Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

How long has it been now?

TBH not exactly sure the date it was "repaired" but it was taken down very fast for maintenance and has been offline ever since.This was posted 4 days ago by Afriman.

I see a few posts on international speeds. As far as I am aware, EASSy is currently offline, so we're running on WACS and SAT3. When EASSy was restored, latencies did not seem to improve, and a decision was made to schedule major maintenance to ensure that when it comes back up, service and performance is back to what it should be. However, as I understand it, capacity on failover cables should be almost full capacity, so we should be experiencing any major drops in access level.
 
Doesn't anyone think it's a bit unfair of Afrihost to save your credit card details without permission and then not allow you to delete it? Isn't this essentially the same as a debit order as you will be charged automatically anyway :wtf: I don't remember agreeing to this!!
 
When I try to downgrade to Uncapped 4Mbps from Business DSL 4Mbps using the old client zone it says that I am limited to options available within my bundle. Does this mean I have to first unbundle before changing?

From experience you cannot edit a bundled product, unbundle change rebundle

Just got off the phone with support and they confirmed this. They also told me that I would need to cancel the business package and apply for normal uncapped. Not happy about that as I will probably be charged for the business package for the whole of May still

Edit: Didn't have to cancel. Just had to unbundle, change, bundle. Thanks jannier

been real slow here for most of the day. Everything international is slow, I'm in pta area.



This is a 10mbps uncapped acc

I'm very much dissatisfied with my Afrihost business account. Youtube is still too slow to stream SD videos. My S3 can't even stream SD. The Play Store is still downloading so slowly that I can't download any large apps, so I think I'll have to pirate the APK despite having access to the paid version on the Play Store.

I'm on 6Mbps, and I seldom achieve speed tests higher than 3Mbps. My free 1GB Afrihost account gets similar results. The Telkom guest account flies at line speed - slowest result was 4.3Mbps. My 1GB capped Mweb account was only a little slower than the Telkom guest account, and Youtube and Play Store performance was significantly improved (ie. I could use Youtube, and my 1GB Play Store download showed 2 hours remaining).

I'm getting very annoyed over here Afrihost...
 
know the feeling man. My sync rate was downed to 8mpbs, seems to have helpded a bit. was stuck on 1mbps before that...App store also quite slow on my S4, but it's better after the "fix my line"

Bryn26, also noticed Play Store a bit slow yesterday - I am also in PE - but it is very "up and down" - some of the app updates are slow and others fly again at full speed. Had no issues with Youtube - get full HD, no problem - on a 10mb/s account, but there is always the odd video that does not want to stream... and buffers initially.

Youtube is streaming just fine right now on my Mweb capped account. I only switched a few minutes ago, and it wasn't working previously. It could well be a router problem though. I'll wait for this Mweb account to degrade over the next few hours. If it doesn't, Afrihost can expect a very angry call.

Debit orders and credit cards require the same details every month. All industry standards are followed to ensure privacy. Please send a private message and we can discuss further.

Hi Afrigirl. I'm currently on my Mweb 1GB account. If it starts to die on me like my Afrihost account has been doing, I'll just buy a new router. If it stays strong then I'll engage Afrihost on my poor service.
