Lost ability to connect about an hour ago. Fourways area. Seriously getting pissed off with Afrihost now.

not to shabby for 0900.... just wish it was the same at 2100

That looks like a congested exchange.

i have the same issue on my side of CPT, at about 2100 it all falls to pieces and continues until about 0400. This started the weekend... not sure what is wrong. It is definitely not an AH problem but definitely a Telkom issue.

AH website says service was restored to Gauteng nearly an hour ago but I still get an authentication error

My 2mb uncapped was working like a dream for the first week of March until this past weekend when something broke.

Let's hope they get things back up and running properly.

Well this last week+ or so the Telkom/Saix network is really screwed up.
I am not sure what the problem is, could be a multitude of things.

I have had my adsl line since forever, and suddenly it looks like my dslam or exchange is suffering congestion, that is how it looks like, the actual cause----- I have no idea.

Imagine a mechanic saying "Here's a tank of free fuel" but the engine keeps stalling... what's the use if I can't rely on the car!!!-Facebook comment in regards to the 80% discount from Afrihost.

Perfect analogy.

Hi Guys

Crazy morning! This what we know. An issue at the data centre where our JHB IPC is located caused the IPC to temporarily go down, as we lost connectivity on the network. The IPC was immediately brought back up, but all the affected clients (in the Northern Region) were disconnected and then needed to re-authenticate. The flood of requests is massive, and we're trying to find ways to get them through more efficiently so every one can get back online.

Clients in other regions who disconnected their sessions, or are connecting now, will experience the same issue, since all clients authenticate on the same management system, so that's why some clients in Cape Town are also not getting online. So when you switch your router on, you get an IP address from Telkom, but no throughput - means you're in the queue waiting to authenticate on the network. We've got our best and brightest working on the problem, right now the main concern is getting the requests through. Once you've authenticated, services should be as normal. Just don't disconnect your session, run Fix My Line, or anything like that until we clear the backlog, or it may take you a while to reconnect. Once we know things are working normally, I'll update you on what's happening.

We're still awaiting a full report from MTN on exactly caused the network problem that started the whole thing, but for now our priority is restoring full and normal ADSL connectivity to affected clients.

We need everyone to be patient and understand that we're doing everything that can be done, and thinking about ANY possible solutions.

Thanks guys

I still hold out hope. I think Afrihost is an awesome company and I trust they'll eventually maintain a stable network, but goddammit if the entire MyBB community didn't know that partnering with MTN spells some degree of disaster... always.

I know hop 2 is high but overall everything is high... something definitely not to kosher presently

Holy hell, AfriMan. I sincerely hope someone is getting his or her toenails pulled out with pliers for this... at the very least.

*edit*

Nice to be back online though.

Glad to hear you're back! If we weren't already unshaping uncapped, you'd have had some free reign on the network for a while ;)
