So Afrihost seriously tie your account to the number you have registered in your Client Zone?

Yes. I gave my account to my brother cause its so crap and he can't connect to it from his line :erm:

Yeah, the support desk told me that that's what "one concurrent connection" means. I argued that "one concurrent connection" means I can only be connected at one place at a time. I confirmed with the Mweb rep that, with their system, they don't care which line you connect from, so long as it's only in one place at a time. I like the idea of having two accounts at different ISPs in case one goes down for whatever reason, but it's pretty pointless if I can't use the Afrihost account in two locations (one at a time).

But Mweb sucks just as much with their pathetic support. Is there a thread for MWEB uncapped complaints?

Well I cancelled my account with AH yesterday - it was a sweet and sour sensation because I loved them with the pre-paid (especially the R14.50 specials) account and the first few days of the uncapped account were glorius (I got around 100GB in a little less than 10 days). I will miss them but I can't accept this horrible speed once I reach 30GB (I'm sure the electricity bill will cost more to keep my machine running if I were to keep using them once I reach their 30GB limit).

In the end I would have been happy with only 100-200GB per month from them (before any throttling) but at R16.50 per GB (at a decent speed) and then being throttled to crappy speeds after makes me feel like I'm being ripped off. I will miss them for now but I haven't written them off - if they do increase these limits to at least 100+GB then I may give them a try again...but until such time - Ciao, Au revoir, Arrivederci, cheers Afrihost!

Downloading the Zune software at 20Kb/s on a 4Mbps line. This is not cool!!

The speed of my 4mbps account took a huge hit over the weekend. I've been busy and haven't had time to really keep up after the initial uncapped tsunami of news so I hadn't even heard about these throttling limits. I signed up late March and I'm pretty sure their conditions had no mention of it at the time. If I remember there was a vague "if you do hundreds of gigs then we'll have to do something" mention.

I've already gone into the clientzone to cancel the account at the end of the month and will be going to MWEB (but can't afford to do so now). But, is there anything I can do to cancel it now and get some kind of refund? I'm sure the answer lies in this thread but I just don't have the time at the moment to go searching.

Many thanks.

PS - REALLY disappointed in Afrihost. Heroes to villains in the blink of an eye.

It looks like I must be the only one having a wonderful experience on Afrihost 4mb uncapped.

I have been on uncapped since 24 March, already done 35 GB's this month and currently doing 450kB/s on Rapidshare - Life is good
Very strange!!Went into the CZ and according to Afrihost I have only used 28GB's??!!That cant be right - pretty sure I have done at least 35GB's.
Has anyone else picked up inaccuracies in Afrihost's bandwidth usage log's?
No wonder I am still flying at 450kB/s although not for long it seems!!

does anyone knwo how to, is it, bridge 2 accounts - so you have browsing through 2 lines - I can use the uncapped ADSL & hook-up the old trusty 56k modem - perhaps I'd get 10kbs
