Afrihost Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

got 34.508GB during May and hardly used the line because i had literally nothing to download!

Brilliant stuff... Don't know what okes download with 4mb lines. 1080p movies and series perhaps.

International ADSL access is currently suffering from degredation and increased latency.

Our upstream provider has implemented 2 upgrades to the international path, and is awaiting another 2.

These are estimated to be implemented within 10 days

Erratic Speeds today.... running 10% of what I should :(



EDIT: WTF.....

I just phoned Afrihost and found out a new little protocol they have kicked in (which is not part of the "Terms & Conditions").... Because I have used 70gig in 10 days, and they look at my previous months usage (about 130gig in total). They pre-empt my usage for the month and kicked me down to 512kbs on my 4mbs line!?! WTF.... according to their own "Fair Usage Protocol" they should only be shaping me @+50gig then throttling me to 1024kbs @+100gig, 512kbs kicks in at +150gig. Now I never ever have used 150gig, so how can they pre-empt that I will probably get there, so lets throttle it now to 512???? This is not "Fair Usage" if you ask me!

BTW, I demanded they put it back to 4mb with shaping as per their own FUP, which they have.

EDIT2: FFS Throttled again after 5 minutes...... WTF dammit.

Ok so according to Afrihosts FUP you cannot use more than 250 Gb per month. Because of their throttling it will take you 32 days to download the full 250 Gigs, Provided that you always can download at your throttled speed, and not less.

I seem to be in the same boat as you... my usage for the month is sitting on 99 GB and I'm now downloading at 512kb/s speeds. I also sent them an e-mail to inquire whether this is a new FUP they're implementing.

EDIT : Nice fast reply back from the Afrihost team as always :) Danke Danke, they have escalated the above matter for investigation... So hopefully I'll know by Monday or maybe sooner.

I will post when I receive an answer for the above problem :)

My speeds have been rubbish for like 2 weeks now but i think it might be my PC. Past 2-3 days have been fine.

downloaded 9,711GB since 1st of the month. Rubbish but hey...
 
I'm also getting 25kB/s on all protocols on my 4 meg line, emailed them and they replied that it is normal since I've used more than 50 gigs so far I have been throttled...:(
 
How many times do I have to tell you guys... Afrihost is the ultimate fail

We are currently investigating further as this seems to be happening on a couple of our uncapped DSL 4M connections.
Kindly check it again after a while as we have sent this to our system admins.
