Afrihost - Wrong name in SMS

I'd also like to encourage everyone who hasn't done so yet, to complete the survey with their rating as it really gives us a great insight into client sentiment and how we can work it into future products to make it great for everyone.

Hey guys. :) Sorry about the delay in replying to this thread. We're aware that some clients received SMSes that might not have been addressed to them. First of all, I can assure you that is not a phishing scam. This is a survey currently being conducted by our directors and I can assure you that everything is legitimate and all above board. The name issue is an error that we were made aware of early on and are currently addressing with our partnered SMS provider. I believe that this only affected a specific group of clients and, as far as I know, the issue has been rectified and you won't be receiving any wrongly addressed messages anymore.

From our side, I would like to whole heartedly apologize if this alarmed or offended anyone, as it certainly wasn't our intention. :) I'd also like to encourage everyone who hasn't done so yet, to complete the survey with their rating as it really gives us a great insight into client sentiment and how we can work it into future products to make it great for everyone.

What I don't understand is how you made a mistake on Monday, then made the same mistake later on in the week. Surely once is enough?

Whilst I may not have been receiving SMS messages I have been receiving emails from Gian's email address. 4 in a day & a half, all advertising the same thing: Fibre with free installation, setup fee & a modem.

Except I'd class it as dubious advertising at best, and downright misleading at worst. Click on the link & get to the Fibre package page, where it shows Openserve packages. Then, at the bottom of the page it states no installation fee is payable if I order before the end of June.

But Openserve does not charge an installation fee, so irrespective of when I order I will not pay any installation fee! Misleading much?

4 emails in a day and a half advertising the same thing = spam. Onto the Spam blacklist your email address goes, never to bother us again, forever blocked. Ciao & bye bye!

I moved my hosting & internet access from you over 3 years ago, why are you still harassing me in any case? especially because I left due to shoddy service.

PS: For the amount of data we use every month your prices are 44% more expensive than Webafrica is. It does not matter that your service is uncapped if we do not use more than 300Gb a month in any case!

I got the same email about the free installation... saying don't order on the website, but to use the special link... except the main website has had free installation for months anyway...

source for openserve not charging for installation?

Most contracts/packages have it included in their pricing, which is up to 8m I think. Otherwise R1750 for some month-to-month contracts.

Interesting that your posts are being censored. Thanks for the info.
Not censored, just the wrong forum. It is good info, but did not belong in the Afrihost support forum, which is aimed at solving problems of existing clients.

How is that not censorship? How is that the wrong forum?

#1 It relates to Afrihost
#2 It is a problem that Afrihost customers have had.
#3 It is a problem that could use some attention from Afrihost customer support

What do you suggest? That MagicDude4Eva creates a thread in the Afrihost subforum detailing how to submit a complaint? Would you delete such a thread?

He is most welcome to create that thread in another forum, and it will not be deleted.

So paid companies have the rights to censor posts on MyBoradband? This also explains why so many comments gets deleted on Disqus when you raise an issue regarding the articles.
This is simply incorrect.

But not in the Afrihost forum?

So he can't create a thread relating to Afrihost in the Afrihost forum?

Which forum would you suggest then?
