Good day Internet People

I am thinking of shifting over to Afrihost from my current provider. Reason: I am downgrading my linespeed and their (Afrihost's) package on 2mbps is cheaper than my current provider. I don't have qualms with the ISP I'm with, it's purely a economic decision.

Can someone who currently have a capped Afrihost account tell me how the service is?

Thank you,
Mr G

Thanks for considering us, sounds like you're making a good choice ;)
You can grab our 1GB free account if you want to give new network a test drive - we've generally seen very good feedback across the board. I'm sure you'll be happy!

Afrihost is pretty solid lately.

I stuck with them through their migration and I'm still pretty damn happy.

I haven't had a problem moving ISP's

I have, I had to first get the old ISP to move the line back to Telkom then from Telkom to the new ISP with a fair amount of pain and lag on each portion. Maybe this process has been streamlined now, but it was so bad I am not willing to take the risk of having that issue again.

Why?

It's so much cheaper to have it bundled

Ignore them. I've moved my line to Afrihost, back to Telkom when I moved my house, back to Afrihost when I was in my new house and it was no pain. I never once had to phone Afrihost to reset my ports, did it online myself.

I've got a 2Mbps line for the wife's small business that I pay and no problems. I took it with a 100GB cap as I use it at home as well with my 8Mbps line. I also have the Afrihost+ so it doubles to 200GB.

Depends on the ISP. Had zero problems with Afrihost, actually they where very helpful and helped me all the way.

what is the turn around time for moving your line to Afrihost from Telkom? Just curious to know. think i already asked you this AG, but cant remember

If the line's ready to be moved, the entire process takes about 2 weeks.

Sho, that really is back in the day!
A lot's changed since then.

Grab a free 1GB account (which also has zero rated midnight data as a promo) and test things out :)

I'm sure it has, but has the process changed? i.e. Line with ISP x must first be cancelled, moved to Telkom, then once with Telkom ISP Y can now take the line over. In my case it ended in the ADSL portion being cancelled and having to then go through the admin of getting it back up again.

Point is it involves 3 parties all having their stuff in order vs just leaving it with Telkom and thus only messing with ADSL modem credentials.

I'm moving to you guys at the end of the month to try out the new capped 100GB product, didn't like the IS backend before and really don't trust anything that is linked to MTN, so now that you are not using them anymore I am going to give it a go again.
