All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

Sunsynk have played a but fast and loose with what current the firmware allows sometimes they change it to 11a.
But that being said if its 13a and the 550w panels are 13.12a you should be fine with the Longi panels.

Hi all. I need some advice please. I have the above Sunsynk 5KVa inverter, with a 5Kw Sunsynk battery which was installed earlier this year. Due to issues with the BC in my complex, I wasn't able to get approval for panels until now.

I have one installer telling me that the inverter would do better with 425W/460W panels (10) due to it being 13A, and another telling me that the 550W are fine and are quoting me on 8 Longi 550W.

Got a quote for almost have yours for 550w panels. If you’re in JHB, let me know if you want my installer details.

I was quoted on 6*550w and I have the Deye 5KW Inverter.

The 550w won't hit max power due to the 13a limitation.
I would take 10x460w over 8x550w

But based on those 2 quotes, I'd probably take the 550w longi over Trina 425w. Not a fan of Trina panels. Everything I've read from others hasn't been great.
But if you can get 10x 460w, I would take that.

I would go with the 550w panels. My inverter is also max 13A and I have 8x545w. Easily get 4500w peak and even seen it touch 4700w on odd occasion. I wouldn't worry about any "clipping"

No, not a big difference. Just gave my opinion on what option I would go for:
460w/470w > 550w > 425w
Mostly cos I'd also want to avoid clipping if I have the option to. But I haven't seen anyone have issues as yet.

There are other factors for consideration.
What is your roof space with regards to what size panels you can fit.
My roof was a better fit for the 470w size panels ie 2 rows of 7x470w.
If I went with 500+w panels, I'd only fit in 1 row with lots of wasted space and I'd end up with a smaller array.
If you have limited roof space, then 550w might be a better fit.

Having a strange issue with a newly installed system using a Deye inverter (see this thread). The solar production doesn't seem to cover the load even though the batteries are fully charged and the 11kW array should be more than enough to cover the 3 kW load. For some reason the solar production keeps jumping up and down and the inverter takes power from the grid to cover the load.

Any ideas? Surely this isn't normal behaviour. I'm guessing some setting is out of whack.

Edit: A firmware update seemed to have fixed the issue.

A quick question regarding the Solarman Smart interface. I'm using the web interface and on occasion it shows a message that says "device partially offline" where it usually shows "normal" on the solar plant icon. I assume this is an issue on the server/back-end and not an issue with the dongle since the message goes back to normal after some time.

I have 12x450w panels on one of mine in 2 strings of 6 each and it's very happy. I unfortunately can't comment on 550s. I do plan to add another two strings to my second 5.5kw inverter so would be keen to hear the outcome.

Is it normal for the CT coil to show a negative value? Our newly installed system has a roughly constant draw of 100W from the grid. It varies somewhat, but can't understand why there is a draw when solar should be more than enough to power the load. The draw is there even when the unit is running from the batteries.
Zero-export Power is set to 020

CT is connected in reverse. Swapping the wires at the inverter will resolve that.
... also it may show negative when feeding the grid (I could be wrong)...

Another month and another R3 500 plus not going to COCT for water and electricity. Zero for water and electricity.

maybe time to move to prepaid for electricity so no chance of estimate readings?
