All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

As per the training manual, up to 16 can be paralleled. All batteries must be connected in parallel (minimum cable size 50mm diameter), and the Grid and Load of each inverter must be in parallel. Aux/Gen cannot be paralleled, in fact the use of the AUX / Smart Load is discouraged, this is the only caveat that I am aware of. Oh yes, and each inverter needs a separate data logger.

There are so many threads here, that I have to post this again. Apologies for duplication. What is better, the dongle that comes with the Deye Inverter using SolarMan or Solarassist where one must purchase the Raspberry PI. I believe SolarAssist is the better app as one can make setting changes and reset if there are faults on the inverter remotely?

You will still need the Solarman dongle for firmware updates. So the question is is it worth your while to get the additional dongle. SolarAssistant is great as data is updated more frequently (1-3 seconds) it easier to make changes to inverter modes remotely and SA also reads more battery data (with the relevant cable)

I don't have SA so can't speak for that. I do have Solarman integrated to HA. It updates every 60 seconds (which is sufficient for my use case). Here are some screenshots of all the sensors it provides.

you or your installer can request an update. I haven't updated mine since i got my installation done (if it ain't broke)
 
FML. I'm staying far away from firmware updates. You can request it on the sunsynk website if you have the balls.

Their firmware updates like windows updates? goggas all over the place?

Quick q - I'm looking at a new aircon for an open plan room. My calculations say I need 36 000 BTU.

What would be starting current on an inverter model?
Inverter should be soft start so same as running current. My 8kW sunsynk trips on overcurrent with a 30000 BTU LG when there is no grid so the startup current is too high. Inverter should be fine and is better for inverters as it will run at lower power most of the time instead of max power on and off the whole time.

The unit you linked is rated at 17A max current with a 25A breaker so definitely not close to the 80A startup current of the old type.
