All things Sunsynk (Deye, Inge, etc...)

RE: cables for solar assistant - is the price on their website justified ? Seems a bit steep for a simple communication cable.
Others have tried with other cables and failed - my understanding is that their cables have the proper FTDI (sp) chip and that pushes up the cost. Expensive yes but they do work

It seems their cables and the only way to get it working. Only question you need to ask is if you actually need SA. If yes, then go with their cables.

Not really a fan of solarman - from both the interface to the actual security - two neighours have Deye inverters - and I can see both their APs.

I also want to be able to automate some of the stuff I'm currently doing manually - like this morning trying to get the bloody thing to grid charge before load shedding (and overcast).... the damn time kept throwing it off :D

I see the cable that replaces the Solarman wifi logger is R299 - vs R499 for the internal one... wonder if I should just permanetly pull the solarman one.

Are you running HA? I think you can automate on Solarman via HA.

Someone published how one can switch off the AP but yes its (Solarman) is not the best - i suppose its because its a generic platform used by other manufacturers

Are you running HA? I think you can automate on Solarman via HA.
Yes you can automate in HA from Solarman - use this integration - but i think the delay does still exist

AFAIK The built-in AP can be disabled once it is up and running by logging onto the dongle's web interface.

There is no delay as you can pull data directly from the dongle. But it only provides updates once a minute. It is substantially better than the default Solarman option though which can sometimes be delayed for up to 10 minutes.

Solarman to HA has a 60 second interval which, depending on your usage, may or may not be problematic. If he only wants to automate settings etc, then the small delay shouldn't be an issue.
 
ah you also want to write values? then you'd need SA or another ESP-based integration
Yeh, nothing major though - just tweak the work mode depending on loadshedding/weather/battery state.

I'd also like more detailed battery stats - so I can better judge their health and adjust my usage patterns if needed.
 
Word from my installer is that Sunsynk are looking at adding the ability to adjust settings automatically based on weather.

Personally what I would love is the ability to set when "Limit-to-Load" applies (ie. at night, limit to load so as not to power non-essentials when no PV).

Side note - my mad scientist is loving the Cloud edge effect at the moment, producing more power than panels are rated currently
 
Annoyed this morning, was in loadshedding, system was nomming down and then bam! Zero battery like , wtf?

Logged a call, they supposedly done some changes to the battery settings but I dunno. I've seen my batteries do some wierd things like jump balances up but it hasnt for a while. I think theres a bad cell or bad cable somewhere. Both batteries were flat.

Once rebooted etc ( of course I saw it on screen ) , SOC was at 0%. Died way above the cutoff (20%) or warning ( 30% ).

Fault just says : F56DC_VoltLow_Fault

Reset all breakers etc, unit came back on with power at 8am. I stupidly hadn't set the DC breakers back up so that only later at 10 when I was wondering why nothing from the panels, sure its raining but there's always something.
 
I'm wondering if my issue this morning wasn't due to a voltage cut off. I noticed that my voltage was down to around 47v but I see it was right down now to below 43, its slowly rising as they charge but its 45. According to the hubble AM2 spec, there is a internal cutoff at 40v and they recommend 44V-45V.

INVERTER/CHARGER SETTINGS

BULK / EQUALISATION CHARGE 53.6 V
FLOAT CHARGE 53.6 V
LOW DC CUTOFF 44 V

AXPERT RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
VOLTAGE POINT BACK TO UTILITY 47 V Axpert Type
VOLTAGE POINT BACK TO BATTERY 53 V Axpert Type

The recommended cutoff is 44V ~ 45V. However, the internal battery cutoff is as low as 40V. Setting the cutoff to 40V will drain the battery to 0%. For extended lifespan we recommend a cutoff of 44V ~ 45V.
hmmm right on the edge of the 44V.

Anybody run into the issue of Sunsynk stats not being accurate? 8kva Sunsynk with wifi dongle:

And for May - yesterday the import was sitting at about 13units during the day and this morning it's only showing 0.6 total for yesterday:

Better late than never... Had this once that I know of, on 29 April.
I know on the day the import was >10kWh, but the next morning the stats showed the (incorrect) 0.6.

Could this have to do with SS' data migration (region 1/2/3) dropping the ball/bits somewhere?

Kill all breakers, then power off each if you want to be fully safe.

On the ac dc panel. Just watch your mains I think, but putting the inverter in bypass with breaker should kill that.

Switch the main changeover to grid. Turn off the inverter at the AC and DC power button/switch. Turn off the CB providing power to the inverter. You should be good to go.
