Update:

Telkom/TI finally got around to activating my SIM, guess the public holiday and weekend played havoc with their "activated within 48hrs" estimate.

Set up is straight forward and I'm currently connected on a single linux PC via USB ethernet to post this. The main network is still chugging away happily on the same 10MB uncapped account.

How did you get Telkom to activate the SIM. I've called 10210, 081180 and been to a Telkom Shop but to no avail.

Best would be to query it with TelkomZA quoting your order ref. If your SIM was delivered by courier it seems to take a few days for the RICA stuff to be processed

That seems way too long even by Telkom standards but TelkomZA can check the activation status for you (I never received any notification, it just started working), I assume you've double-checked the TelkomInternet user setup as per the leaflet?

Yes, both name and APN were set to TelkomInternet. It is a pity I don't have the order number with me or I would have send the PM already.

I am having a bit of a problem with the setting, when I put in the details in the internet connection tab, my username does not fit into the provided space . Phoned Telkom and they opened a fault saying they would look into it for me about a month ago they never got back to me. Short of throwing the stupid thing away I don't know what else to do

Check the setup leaflet that came with, username & password are not required and must be left blank.
