Portcullis...........Cape Connect was the VERY FIRST WISP I heard of a few years ago and you guys are RECOMMENDED!!! So ya, would've definitely have love to go with your company

Wireless internet is SO expensive to deliver properly to customers. Apart from high sites costing a fortune to build, there's the land rent and the layer 2 charges. Case in point. The new high site in Hermanus has cost over R200K and there isn't even a mast up yet. When you have to run 800m of armoured electrical cable, numbers rack up quickly.

We don't use 17GHz or other wireless backhauls. We run fibre to the towers. There are numerous pictures on our Facebook page showing this. At some point that fibre will end up in an Openserve or DFA layer 2 back to our DC in Teraco Rondebosch. That also makes the products so expensive. We're paying Openserve and DFA huge amounts of money each month for those backhauls. If we replaced them with wireless, we could also do cheap cheap connectivity, but then customers would not be happy.

Each time backhaul prices drop, we pass the costs on to the clients, but it's still expensive.

It's the old story: Fast, good, cheap, pick two.

We don't have capped products, but we are slowly repurposing a lot of our hotspots that aren't earning us money to http://heatzone.cc Those products do have capped offerings. The new one being built in Kuilrivier (just behind Zevenwacht Mall) is a heatzone site. To do those speeds reliably, you need to be within 2km of the mast.
