Android app bargains thread.

Anyone notice there's a free and paid version of yesterday... Both almost 1gb sized. What's the difference?

The free one has ads. Thanks for pointing it out - downloading it now. I don't get ads on my phone, so just a free game.

You guys must install the AppSales app. I check it every day.

Yesterday and the remote app thing were on sale for a day or two, maybe longer. There's a version of Yesterday that's free with ads - ads I don't get because of my ad blocker.

tTorrent is on sale for $1.99 Well worth the money as far as I'm concerned

What does it do that uTorrent doesn't?

Edit: I bought tTorrent. It is much better than anything else available. Nicer UI, excellent integrated search, good power saving options, achieves the same download speeds that my PC does and in general is just very easy to use and professional.

Because the app can prevent the display from dimming and has auto shutdown, you can save a lot of power by using your phone to download overnight. Just set your brightness to lowest, plug in your charger and make sure your settings are right. I have 17.2GB of internal memory free, but storage may be an issue for others.

Had it installed on my previous phone, lots of crappy apps on sale almost daily, uninstalled it.

It's an awesome app! You can 'share' any Play Store listing to it to see the app's price history, you can add apps to a watch list and get notified when something you want goes on sale, and it covers all sales regardless of app quality. I couldn't begin to count how many apps I've bought as a result of AppSales, either apps I really wanted or apps I didn't even know about.

As it happens, I've never found it mostly covering crap apps, just apps that weren't for me.

That is exactly what I was thinking of using it for. A 16GB card should be more than enough space.

Cards are so cheap these days you may as well get a 32GB card. My 32GB Transcend cost little more than R200. Kalahari and Takealot will have.

AMOLED's use very little power to display black, and tTorrent's UI is 99% black. My S3 is perfect for this.

You guys might want to hurry. Kemco Games are selling all their games for 99c each. I bought Symphony of Eternity and Eve of the Genesis. Those two would ordinarily be $11 combined.

Strategy & Tactics: WW2 is on sale for $1.40. Normal price $5. Been on my watch list for ages - awesome game.

Swype has launched on the Play Store with an introductory price of $0.99. I'm typing with the trial now and it's really good. Possibly better than Swiftkey, but at least as good. I'll definitely be buying it. Voice dictation works quite well, but it is a little slow.

Got myself a copy and loving it. Works like a charm and voice dictation works well but is a bit slow. Still seems to be better with the south African accent than most. Get a copy you won't regret it.

I already committed to buying it. It's an awesome keyboard. It could do with some more imaginative themes, and the dragon dictation button is very inconveniently located. I disabled it to restore the symmetric position of the keyboard, and to stop hitting it when I want a full stop.

Looks good. I currently use Swiftkey, it works quite well. If Swype supported Afrikaans, I would have bought it.
