Android >>> iOS

An important point to bear in mind when looking to purchase an Apple device (although not a deal breaker) is that the Apple ecosystem is greater than the sum of its parts.Someone who has multiple Apple devices will have a more pleasurable user experience than a user that is less invested in the ecosystem.

You'd have to sell that and buy an Apple Watch

That's one of the products I really dislike .

If I had to be realistic, I'd probably get Apple TV and iPad only

It's an older GT - so I don't have Sp02 or stress monitoring - but I want it for the notifications mainly
You'd have to google the specific model, would probably work for all as would use the same system. Just remember to enable notifications.

Tbh, I'd go with Nvidia Shield Pro, since can sideload android apps, it can act as a Plex server (USB 3 ports), the upscaling is great, you'd lose screen mirroring.
Would expect a new Shield this year hopefully though, but chip shortage so who knows.

I've just thought of something else .

What about my Huawei watch ?
Just search to confirm which features and functions will be available with iOs and which not.

I am not an Apple Watch fan and use a Garmin instead.
It means there are some Apple ecosystem functions I do not have, I have accepted that by choice.

To get a bit more serious rather than just highlighting the clearly emotional responses from egantiapple...
Apple products work well, and the more of them you have the better the overall experience, but you certainly do not need all of them to have a good experience, and they are not for everyone - clearly.

A Youtuber(think MrWhostheboss) made a video once, why he switched to Iphone after 10 years on Android.
One of the main reasons was because Apple make like 3 phones a year compared to 1000 android devices. So app developer only have to optimize their apps for 3 Iphones where it will be impossible to do that for 1000 Androids with different chips, screens etc. So they just make a one size fits all for Android. Thus most apps just run better on Apple

What about my Huawei watch ?
My Huawei watch GT2e syncs fine with my iPhone, gets all notifications to.
The only thing is that the Huawei watch does not support the FaceID unlock when wearing a mask, unlike Apple Watch.

All you need to do is get Huawei Health app on your iPhone from App Store and setup from there.
Most Smartwatches are built to support the iPhone, it’s the Apple Watch that’s not allowed out of the Apple ecosystem.

Well, seems like iPhone is leading the way so far ...

yes, and to create an Itunes account you need to give Tim Cook your address (no jokes)
and you need to forget about ever loading your own songs without plugging it in to Itunes and copying it that way, or buy it off Apple music store.

then Whatsapp as many have said, Telegram strangely works,
and every so often iphone just randomly slowing down and chowing Battery like a Fat kid at a candy store, because you didn't buy a new one when Apple said you must.

you know, just general pain and suffering, thankfully I'm quite fortunate to have one from Work, and had a "test drive"
and will never in a billion years buy one, even if it fell off the back of a truck and cost me nothing.

The amount of kak people post online these days. Shameless.

Okay, but how does that affect you really in day-to-day? Why do you need to be on e.g. Android 12 instead of Android 11? You still get security updates within a good time window, the rest of the OS still works fine.
You don’t need to update, but you’re not waiting on an update. The choice is yours.

So you think giant companies do not test their app against e.g. the S21, a super popular phone with a user group that's pretty high spenders?
Netflix was broken on Pixel devices for a bit so entirely possible.

Why use the word "but" instead of "and"?
And you're saying your use-case is the correct one. I have a lot of smart devices in my house, casting to devices is fine/easy (both audio to speakers and video to chromecast, YT app's built-in one is also pretty good for old TV's btw, should be iOS as well), things like NFC tags for routines like laying my phone on my desk triggering a tasker to turn on the table light, etc., is all not possible in Apple's ecosystem until you get a first-party solution.
Automation is possible, with multiple options including NFC.
Ecosystem doesn’t mean compatibility, it’s the connected experience between devices that are yours or not but within the ecosystem. Everything isn’t there but everything that is makes it worth it for some.

For me, things like clipboard sync are useless/don't care, think the only thing I really want still are e-mail integration in-app, still annoying that I have to hit copy on my phone so I can paste the OTP in windows: https://web.dev/web-otp/ Chrome is slowly getting there, but somehow seems abandoned.
This I’d blame the creators for, WebAuthn is a thing.

@Dolby would be the first to tell you how the Netflix certified boxes offer a better experience.

Sure, but how much better. The argument is odd, because any major app will have tests to make sure it works on the most popular Android devices, same as on Apple. None of the apps I use have any issues where I can go "oh, this is because they didn't optimize for Android device's hardware/my screen size", outside of an app where it doesn't understand notch because the app last updated in 2017. WhatsApp, Spotfiy, Telegram, my banking apps, Oculus, Netflix, Teams, my vacuum app, authenticator apps, FF/Chrome on mobile, discord, etc. all work fine.

I'm not doing something like video editing on my phone outside of trimming it, video compression when sending is fine as well, nothing noticeable is an issue. The argument just doesn't work anymore, outside of where devs are purposefully being idiots, Instagram being one where they don't support full fold size since they want to force certain amount of scroll for adds, same reason they only support portrait on iPads.

Look, I think I've dug into enough to see where I'd lose or gain .

The reason for the thread was to see how easy it would be to take my data over, like my Gmail contacts which have automatically synced for many, many years .

@Tsepz_GP I know you've have an idea of this - how are the features of the iPhone camera compared to the Huaweis ? So, I know zoom is lower on an iPhone - but other things ? Manual mode ? Slo-mo is still 240 frames ? They have the other features as well like night / wide / macro / aperture ?

It's the inverse here because 90% + of smartphones here are Android. It took Tymebank ages to roll out their iOS app etc. Then there are zillions of apps you can't even get on iOS like Newpipe and Youtube Vanced.

Took my wife's data over from Android to iOS some years back and it was not too difficult.
Had no need to pay for any software to do that at the time, it is possible that has changed.

Used some utilities I found at the time.

As I said this was a number of years back so I would expect it to be even easier now.

my opinion is mine, you want to drink the Kool aid, go right ahead,
Ive said my piece, actually used a Idiotphone, so I have something to base my hatred around my actual experience. and nope dont care, still hate it even more now than before.

I guess people find out once they have used it and then they decide, Fortunately, I never had to part with my own money for it, I got one to use from work.
and I got to experience its Stupidity firsthand, so all smiles from me.

Isheep going Android Baaad Apple good dont bother me one little bit.

You don’t need to update, but you’re not waiting on an update. The choice is yours.
Okay, sure, so should Google just not announce Android in June and wait till Dec for everyone to release? It's a weird argument to have, iOS is internal everything and you only see on launch/fully integrated to device, meanwhile Android you see when OS is done, not when sorted out for all devices yet.
Netflix was broken on Pixel devices for a bit so entirely possible.
That's a Google's issue with Widevine, not an app dev issue, but sure.
Automation is possible, with multiple options including NFC.

Sure, not saying automation isn't possible on iPhone, just saying it's more a case of a majority of it is Apple or nothing, issue is more that Apple (and Google for that matter) only allow tasks that they have allow: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/7-ways-to-trigger-apple-shortcuts-with-nfc-tags which nowadays means most stuff is good for the average user, but again, need to buy into that more premium ecosystem to get it to work right, it's homekit or nothing.
This I’d blame the creators for, WebAuthn is a thing.
I still blame Windows for not integrating it yet with e.g. e-mail app, this should have been built as a windows API by now.
@Dolby would be the first to tell you how the Netflix certified boxes offer a better experience.

Nonsense, it clearly bothers you a lot.

Why the agro and condescending attitude to people who choose to use Apply while you claim it does not bother you?

You should get help, ask your medical aid to pay for it, they really should.

That’s all possible? I have tags and voice controls via Siri to manage all my Sonoff and Tuya smart devices.

Hell I can voice control my 3D printer, seems like a terrible idea but the option exists. I control my garage door from my watch, my geyser is toggled by sport or location, music and lights by voice, tag or even proximity.

Only thing I’d still like is to tell her to make me a coffee, but that’s asking a bit much.

and if they dont? what then? cry in the corner, and go spend money at the idiotstore?
if thats what you want, enjoy! I wont be spending my Money there ever in a Million years, even when I have one of their Garbage products to throw at one of their reps.

I do me, sticking not necessarily with Samsung, but with Android till the day I die.
