Android smartphones will offer 5G before Apple

They didn't...

Oh, I see. It was a wireless charging kit that never officially came into fruition. I must have fell for some marking hype then from the announcement or store people.

Would you not say that was more of a commercial reason?

The phone hardware still supported it (as did other brands) and Apple only adopted it recently. Plus, in those years they didn't really do much with it or better it in anyway? In fact, I think the current wireless standard is still half the speed of Huawei Mate 20

Sure, but supporting something and giving me a complete workable solution is two different things. But I am still unhappy with Apple's wireless solution as well, they already announced the Airmat last year and it is still not out. And with how the Apple pencil went I can see it only working on the devices that only comes out with the apple pencil.

With the 5G - I can't see the difference with 3G and LTE in my daily use of my phone, so I don't really see the point of it just yet. Unless you use your phone as a modem (Which I do in a pinch if I don't have Wifi), but I think a very small minority of people do this. Maybe the average data use will increase significantly soon, but I don't really think so.

Looks interesting.

I hope it has decent speed though :/

I think the iPhone has the slowest wireless charging of anything out there right now (I think they're only at 7.5w) and some of the flagships are at 15w already.

Without starting another war, these are areas I'd expect an iPhone to at least be in running and why I say they're generally 1 or 2 generations behind everyone else. And I think it's in their history - they launch a smartphone without 3G in a 3G era. Then things large screens, dual cameras, 4K and a host of other features were also a generation or two behind.

Now that Android phones have 3 and 4 cameras, watch them start with 3 cameras pretty soon

Hogwash, Iphone XS max is using a apple designed CPU, Apple A12 Bionic, Iphone X uses A11 another apple designed CPU.Their screen resolutions and quality blows vast majority of android phones out of the water. There is nothing cheap about them. Even the kirin 980 is a year behind the A12.

You are more then likely to find cheap and old hardware in android phones, then ANYTHING apple really.iPad pro, pretty much cutting edge tech and kicks every thing and anything in the balls.

I can't believe how the apple haters, doesn't even know what hardware is under the hood, I dislike apple but I always compare hardware specs, vast majority of tablets for example can't compare even remotely with the latest ipads, and large portion of those tablets were released after the latest gen apple ipads.

1. Hardware is made in China. Like 90% of all tech. (Apple builds nothing, hence most of there hardware cannot be fixed)
2. That retina screen you guys always push into everyone's face. Is just fancy jargon and it's made by Samsung.
3. Sound like you do not know what is under the hood.
4.iPad Pro, old tech found in other devices beats nothing.
5.Try researching...on this thing they call the internet.

Wat?

Something people also seem to forget is that this point is completely irrelevant. Apple doesn't NEED to make/build/assemble anything (nobody really does) and it would serve them absolutely no benefit if they did. In fact it would just cost them money.
4.iPad Pro, old tech found in other devices beats nothing.

Wat again? It's got the newest most hardcore most insane processor out there. What the hell is old tech about it? Not to mention a number of other things.

It beats everything. So much so that others are hardly players in the market any more and ignore the tablet thing so hard as if it never existed and is a declining market...yet they are just losers in that market.

5.Try researching...on this thing they call the internet.

Take your own advice.

Noob much ?

You are aware the Iphone A12, A11 is custom CPU's specific to apple.
New Ipad pro pretty much kicks even the microsoft slate in it's face and isn't even polite about it
Secondly, there are only 31 odd Oled screen manufactures even less LED, only handful still produce LCD displays, additionally, it's been reported LG passed apple's quality control and latest iphones are using either LG or samsung.
Even with 31 manufactures not all of them produce phone screens for example, some exclusively do TV's for example.

Which means you still only have a handful of OLED manufactures that you can choose from, quality control and all that samsung beats the rest hands down. But that doesn't mean samsung parts with their latest and greatest screen technology, apple has to make do with what samsung offers them.Nothing wrong with apple using samsung at all, if their quality is good why settle for less.

New ipad pro A12X bionic benchmarks tells me otherwise, google use it don't use.

New Ipad pro X is a beast.

Noob much ?

I think one point he's accurate on is you aren't sure what's under the hood /yourself and you may need to read up a tad ;)

You haven't answer my questions though ?

>>> A12 mate A11 was launch last year <<<

We all know this ... and I'm assuming that you feel that even the A11 is a year head of the Kirin 780 because of benchmarks - right ?
Or do have a link or something to backup what you're saying?

>>> ALL of their devices have higher resolutions then majority android devices, excluding flagships, I have an LG K9, released this year with a snap dragon chipset that is only marginally faster then the mali 400MP with a screen res of 1280 x 720 <<<

That's a bit weird to exclude things from a comparison, especially from the actual competitors? But technically you're right - if we remove the iPhone competitors, then the iPhone has the highest resolution screens ever seen on a phone!

>>> I have an LG K9, released this year with a snap dragon chipset that is only marginally faster then the mali 400MP with a screen res of 1280 x 720 <<<

That K9 resolution isn't much better than the new iPhone XR! It also can't even do Full HD ;) By the way - please tell you've had a flagship Android device?

>>> Does it make apple inferior because they couldn't be bothered adding tech that you most likely won't end up using any ways <<<

I think you're looking for a fight when there isn't. I don't think anyone said iPhone is inferior because of the lack of technology or features.

It's just expected they won't be the first with a feature (ie 5G) - just like they weren't the first with 3G or 4K or NFC or large screens or high resolution screens or super low mo or high resolution cameras or or or or or . It really is just a factual comment which relates to the article published. I believe in my heart, that you'll start seeing these features filter downwards

^ The reply was two days ago, did you get out of bed with the wrong foot, and decide this is the first thread I need to vent in, and yes I planted many flag poles, ooh you means flagships, yeah dated many tall girls too.

XR is 1792x828 that is still a lot better then majority android phones, and that said it's suppose to be a budget phone not that the price indicates it at all, but apple still insisted to throwing horsepower under the hood, and have a min model of 64gig, just in case, XR isn't a flagship device, and yet it still runs circles around none flagship devices.
I have you actually bothered to look at the A12X CPU from the ipad pro, pretty much beats the pants off the i7 from last year in single core performance and pretty much spitting distance for multi core, i7 from this year just manages to beat it, mobile cpu's never provided any sort of contest in the past, it runs cooler , throttles less and even uses less power.

Not looking for a fight mate, if you were to do a poll, and ask how many people actually made use of the various features being touted as making android superior to whatever apple throws on a wall to see what stick, it may surprise you to find that average joe doesn't care about those features nor use them.So why do you and every one else insist, look, look, look apple doesn't have x or y, they are a bunch of noobs, android is the best, can your apple phone clip you toenails, well my android can, it can but I don't, so suck it.

You left out the most important part of my post when it comes to security patches and OS updates, and the various issues and problems related to android, any particular reason you decided it isn't worth the effort, or cherry pick arguments you can poke more holes than swiss cheese ?. I am all for a open and a cheerful debate, but at least be man enough to admit android and apple has faults, even with me in the android camp, android has far more issues then the iphone.

You seem to be on a apple fault er huh,... fact finding mission, how is it working out so far.

The only thing iPhone's have going for them is the chipsets but only for a year because they then throttle it. Either than that, android does everything else better. Better screens, battery, cameras, designs and definitely network speeds.

You seem to be on a apple fault er huh,... fact finding mission, how is it working out so far.

You don't work for Apple or any of their suppliers. You probably also don't own any of their stock.
Why does it matter if someone else thinks your phone is ****?

Same as PS4 vs Xbox One, you become biased towards the device you buy and cannot accept any flaws in it. Happens all the time with any device, instead of just letting those live with what they've deemed acceptable you've got to try convince them your purchase was justified.

I work ... I had time this morning. Plus I read a few more inaccuracies and strange comments (ie removing the iPhone competitors when doing a comparison ... ). Plus, it was brought to the front page again.

XR is 1792x828 that is still a lot better then majority android phones

Yup - when you take away the competitors again, you're spot on!

XR isn't a flagship device, and yet it still runs circles around none flagship devices

Wait - are we allowed to include flagships? Androids? Is it a budget phone ? Is it flagship? Just now we couldn't use flagships? But we can selectively include what we want? I'm so confused as to your comparison systems :( When it runs circles around the flagships, is the excluding the camera, battery, LTE, screem, charging system?

I have you actually bothered to look at the A12X CPU from the ipad pro

The thread - again - is regarding the iPhone / 5G / features. So, no ... I haven't

android superior to whatever apple throws on a wall to see what stick

The thread - again - is not about superiority. You seem fixated :/ It's about Android possibly getting 5G first, which people agree with, because typically Apple aren't the first with new technology and prefer to wait a generation or two. They weren't first with 3G, probably won't be with 5G and will also behind the curve with 6G. It's really just a fact :/

You left out the most important part of my post when it comes to security patches and OS updates

Again - not part of this thread ?

You seem to be on a apple fault er huh,... fact finding mission, how is it working out so far.

And yet again, the thread is about Android getting certain features first.

I'm not sure why you'd so deference, tbh.

If I'm honest, I don't see an issue with what is discussed *shrug*

If a thread is started with Android having less frequent updates, I'll shrug ... say it's true ... I'm not going automatically go into defense mode and start spilling everything about why it's great and better than everything else out there.

And if I'm honest, I really do find it comparisons with the iPhone XR strange. His words : It's a budget phone with the highest resolution screen (excluding Android flagships), but runs circles around Android flagships (excluding certain features). But can't be compared to them because it's only budget ...

You don't work for Apple or any of their suppliers. You probably also don't own any of their stock.

What phone now, oh lord, I know the LG phone is carp, for R456.00 it was a steal, was making an example of it. Interesting enough talking about features versus android and apple, how many mid range, and budget phones lack various features touted to make android superior. My LG doesn't have NFC, nor does it have native support mirror or screen casting, and likely missing out on 100's of other features too.

Talking about 5G how many phones do you think will have 5G on android, you will count them on 1 hand, budget and mid range phones won't see 5G for at least another 2 to 3 years. Not that we will have a 5G network in any case, nor that we will have a 5G network worth talking about within the next 3 years anyways.

Apple is doing the right thing, there is absolutely no incentive nor reason to add 5G support to any phone in the near future, adding 5G support is nothing more then a marketing ploy, and bragging rights.

So what is the point android, you going to sit by, folding thumbs till there is wide network coverage, and by that time you are obsolete.

meh android fanbois and their useless toys......done.

Ah - there it is !

The 'ol Apple waited until the best time to launch a feature ;)

'We don't need that!'
'We don't want that!'
'That is pointless!'

... until Apple give them the OK

Ok but you didn't answer the quote on why you need to defend Apple.

I chatted to Tim Cook and he confirmed you aren't on the pay roll. So why do you defend Apple so much?

Oh I HATE apple with a passion, but the way they do things, and what they offer is pretty great, iOS is far, far better then the android crap we get, often vanilla android, the adware and bloatware we get with android. What I love about android, and willing to sit and take their carp is being open ended OS.One of the reason a totally despise apple.

However their devices are great, one or two issues, I would happily part with my cash for an apple device with android on it.

And your point being exactly what eh. Why add some thing that isn't even remotely useful in the short and drive up the costs as well, some articles even mybroadband mentioned 200$ -300$ price premium more you have to pay for essentially what ?, technology you can't even use, even if you plug into an android user's behind ? Before you mention that is why apple is going to wait before it adding it so that the costs come down.

A darn good bet as is with all new technology manufactures are going to milk it, same as they did with 4G it is only been recently that 4G devices have become a lot cheaper, it had a price premium for quite some time, you still going to end up paying a pretty penny when apple adds it, regardless of the time lapse.Common sense at apple definitely triumphed.....

I am totally with apple on this......but that isn't important to you, bragging rights is far more important.Apparently there is a new penis measurement tool, it's called "the android flagship pointless features measurement device", the more pointless technology it has the shorter the........well you get the picture. There is also an device that enrages android fanbois as well as cause serious bouts of impotence, which can only be fixed by buying "the android flagship pointless features measurement device".The device that causes all these issues is called apple "shudder".

Just saying the name it feels an inch shorter, definitely need to buy "the android flagship pointless features measurement device"

Just on this point LED and LCD are the same...in that the actual screens are all LCD's.

It's simply the back light that differs and used LEDs instead of fluorescent or other tech.

You can be pretty sure the Liquid Retina does in fact use LED back lighting, but is still called an LCD because that's what the screen itself is.

Same as PS4 vs Xbox One, you become biased towards the device you buy and cannot accept any flaws in it.

Meh I can point out more flaws on devices I own than ones I don't and I accept all of them, otherwise I wouldn't own it.

This includes the mentioned PS4 and Xbox One as well as iPhone.

You don't become biased to the device you own...you were biased towards the device due to intelligent decision making and that's why you actually own it.

No device is perfect, it's about choosing the one which is most perfect for your needs.
