Android smartphones will offer 5G before Apple

Interesting because I see no inherent reason it should cost drastically more to manufacture so this appears to be more of a marketing push for profit than anything else.

Paraphrasing theVerge:
The frequency range that 5G will use will have difficulty penetrating really thick walls and will have to fallback on a lower frequency range that is currently in use by 4G. And as the technology is in development, you will probably need and extra modem in there.

Should hopefully be cheaper mobile data but we all know that the cost will stay the same and the service providers will just eat up the new profits.

Even the kirin 980 is a year behind the A12

You never really answered this and I've been waiting for your source?

I'm not a fan of benchmarks really - but I checked a Geekbench and the difference in multi-core performance is just under 10%

It's bizarre because the way you worded it makes it seem leaps and bounds ahead of anything on the planet. Like, nothing ever seen before and twice as fast as anything

But 10% in a cross platform benchmark is rather underwhelming ... And really doesn't scream '1 year ahead'

So you based your comeback oh there is only so much difference between them so how can it be a year behind.Did you even bother checking out the specs of the CPU, speed is hardly an indication of any thing.Nice try, but try again once you actually bothered looking at the actual CPU specs, you can come back and tell me it isn't a year behind.

I'm asking politely and thought maybe you could just point me the right direction.

Also, just to make sure I'm clear - in a CPU, speed is no indication of anything ?

You've definitely taught me (and probably the chip manufacturers too!) something !
