Interesting because I see no inherent reason it should cost drastically more to manufacture so this appears to be more of a marketing push for profit than anything else.

The frequency range that 5G will use will have difficulty penetrating really thick walls and will have to fallback on a lower frequency range that is currently in use by 4G. And as the technology is in development, you will probably need and extra modem in there.
