When I try to install Aperture 3 for the first time on my Macbook Pro I receive an alert that states that I need Snow Leopard 10.6.2 to install the software, it then aborts, but I do have Snow Leopard installed on my Mac and I just re-installed it with the same results ... what do I do now? Thanks

Seem like you are on 10.6.0/1? Check Apple Sign>About This Mac to see which version you have. If not 10.6.2 or higher, then do a Software Update first before installing Aperture.

Are you installing from a download or from the disc? If from the disc, I'm wondering if it for some reason fails to correctly detect your version of OSX? Maybe download the latest trial and install that - it's the same software.

I installed Snow Leopard from a disc I bought some months back. I just down loaded 10.6.2 but it didn't want to install - got this error:"Mac OS X can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update" Do I have to install 10.6.1 first, what a schlep.

No, if you download the combo update you can install 10.6.4 straight away, or just run Software update from the Apple menu. Note it's quite a large download, so I hope you have uncapped or a buddy with uncapped ADSL.

Are you using the combo updater? What happens when you run software update from the apple menu?

OK, I downloaded and installed 10.6.1 and 10.6.2, its much smaller than 10.6.4 combo. will now try Aperture again. thanks

That's all good but you really should update to 10.6.4 as it includes security updates as well as other updates to the OS.
