Apple iPhone 5 unveiled

My feeling is that it's a bit of a slow burner. It's so similar to the iPhone 4 design concept that it's hard to see immediately what an improvement it actually is. But after all what else should impress you? The speed? Look at the screenshots of its graphics, and the video demo of the flyovhers. That thing absolutely blazes. The screen? It's got touchscreen sensors on the friggin glass now - will be the most sensitive screen in the world. It's not as big as a lot of current gen Android phones, but screen size is an evolutionary dead-end - they've already gone full circle. Eventually you have to figure out what size you actually want to use, and I've said for a long while that for me it's right around the 4' mark. My SGS is perfection in the hand.
My next phone will be a Note 2. The screen on my S2 is just too small for the amount of time I spend using it. I guess if I used my phone less I'd be happy with a 4" screen. Luckily the platform I love gives me the option to choose a device I want.

As far as screen sensitivity, there really isn't a need for a more sensitive touchscreen than those seen on the latest smartphones. Kudos to Apple for the innovation, but no one ever used a modern smartphone and wished the screen was more sensitive.

Only a fanboi will get excited about this.

I saw an article on Computerworld suggesting there might be patent infringement in this phone (if they're using 4G LTE technology)... in which case it is possible that Samsung could be going to court.

Samsung copy not win.
I have an SII and Iphone 4 and will take an iPhone anyday over buggy Android.
And All iOS devices getting IOS 6 from launch date.
How is Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean on your network supported device. Oh wait, it isn't
And what kinds of names is ICS and JB anyway. Something named after toys to get kids excited.

So what kind of name is apple? Sounds fruity to me.
And what kind of a name is iphone? Or iphone 4? Very creative, so much so it's hard to believe the supposed most innovative gadget company came up with it.

Thank you for your 5 iCents

My take on the Iphone 5 is its a much needed upgrade to the iphone 4S that brings apple back in contention with the middle to high end market, but fails to match the Top end compeditors, like the HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Nokia Lumina 920.

they despirately need to diversify the Iphone product like. have the new iphone as a mid range product to complete with the likes of the HTC one s, Motorola RAZR HD and the nokia Lumina 820.

Then create a 5" iphone Pro (ie Macbook Pro) that competes at the top end.

The thing is - Google account sync, Android, S 3 wins. Sorry Apple.

Instead of aborting babies, they should have aborted this phone, too soon?:erm:

There is NO indication of that. Best guess is dual core, probably Arm cortex a15 based. There's a video of it on Anandtech, it looks very bloody fast.

Yip this baby, jailbroken running fakeclockup bloody awesomeness.

Not so clear cut in the corporate world where MS Exchange Server is the norm. How does the stock Samsung mail app work with Exchange? iOS's mail app is a darn good replication of Outlook's full functionality on a phone.

WTF would you want a nano-sim? They waste their time on making rubbish features that is not needed.

It's obviously about making the phone as thin/light as possible, but yeah i have a family member returning from the US in october so i may get them to bring one over for me, just don't wanna get screwed by not being able to have a sim...

So to recap... There is no feature that the iPhone 5 has that the S3 doesn't?

Very innovative, only Apple.
