Core have gotten some experts out from Apple UK to give a presentation on Final Cut server.

Core are hosting the Presentation's at various resellers. Here is a link so you can book online: http://www.apple.co.za/pro/prosessions/

At Digicape we will be hosting Drinks and Snacks afterwards.

I've personally been to this Final Cut Server Presentation and all I can say is WOW! It's really impressive technology, they talk about the integration of Final Cut Server into an XSAN environment , really interesting stuff. To top it off Apple did not send a couple of doffs around, they really know their stuff! I see myself as a bit of a techno geek and shot a couple of hairy questions to these guys and they managed to answer them! :-)

I'll keep you all updated to what I hear in the channel regarding presentations / training etc from Apple.

final cut server is gonna be great, and i will be doing one pretty soon, however the presentation made it seem alot easier than it is, if u read through the manuals etc you will quickly see its a nightmare to install and troubleshoot.

Once it is running great, but getting it runinin,g and more importantly getting it running the way u want it is going to be a huge learning curve and quite a challenge.

Having spoken to core's "top" tech guy, he admitted to me that the installation was far from easy, and he had yet to integrate one himself into a san properly....

interesting times

You are right, XSAN by itself is an absolute mission to get up and running and now you want to install Final Cut Server?! It's gonna be difficult! :-)

I've got a very funny feeling tho that Final Cut Server is a bit of a premature product... I don't know why it's just the feeling I got from the presentation. If it does what Apple sas it does, especially on a XSAN, its gonna absolutely rock!

it seems stable enough, although by the end of this week i might be saying something different, also it seems more optimised for xsan2, which is a downer for anyone still running1.1 -> 1.4

I can see multiple installations and alot of hair pulling over this product...

hehe! When you are ready PLEASE start a thread which will account your experiences of the Final Cut Server Product. All your difficulties and hopefully all of your successes with it.

will do, i think i am gonna have alot of sleepless nights,

Count me in for the Pro sessions... If we don't do our own... In fact.. count me in either way
