Aramex global shopper

How does this happen?

Likely they did not anticipate that customs would inspect your consignment. It looks like it was selected for a random inspection. There shouldn't be any issues unless you blatantly under declared the item.

Customs usually don't inspect shipments. They do so at random. Aramex usually pay the fees as per the invoice and item description/code. If no inspection as usually happens occurs there are no delays, and your item would have been sent to the depot for delivery to you.

Or their system is bollocks-ed up and they just add incorrect event labels. Happened to me when they claimed customs confiscated my item and it was magically released the moment I paid the customs duty.

The item was held by customs before the first blue arrow, Aramex requested the original invoice which I sent and subsequently paid - it then apparently went to their offices - and is now being held by customs elsewhere.

Their customs payment platform is still broken after weeks. How is this possible. Uselss. Now you must log a ticket , or mail to get a payment link which takes weeks by its self. So frustrating. Won't recommend using AGS until they sort their BS customs payment issue.

You can dodge some of the hurdles by enabling auto payment inside your account profile.
So far I haven't been hit with problems using that.

Currently even the autopay doesn't always work now with custom fees. But if you get onto the whatsapp support you can ask them to send you a payment link. They sent one within 15 minutes and payment was made.

I had 3 of 4 parcels delivered before, then they stopped the other parcel, which is part of the same shipment, and fined me even though it suppose to be cleared with the other parcels. Sometimes, stuff can't be explained.
I'll be pretty annoyed if they come along with new fees, already 750odd in..

...and cleared from customs again - apparently it was because I hadn't paid the duties, this after I went through the entire process earlier in the week and sent them proof of payment.

Not exactly the greatest service from these guys, looks like the offering barely works and needs constant hand holding - if you don't contact them, you hear nothing.

It's been getting worse for sure.

The location need not be the location of your item. For example when DHL processes customs it does it in Cape Town and the location shows that.

At the end of the day AGS is cheaper than FedEx or DHL and not as fast, but at least the items do get here.

Yeh, this **** is getting ridiculous. After chatting to them again today, it's done the same loop for the 3rd time, stuck at customs again.

My parcel has been stuck in JHB at clearance for 15 days now.

I opened a ticket 4 days ago and today got this response: "Please be advised we have requested customs charges to be loaded in order for you to pay and the shipment will be cleared."

But nothing has changed yet, nothing loaded and no pending payments.

Next week will be week 3....

Paid the invoice last night. It seems to have cleared, and then they say it's handed over for inspection, lol

Mine did that 4x in total - I see its finally in Cape Town

You get what you pay for. Aramex is cheaper but slower and you may have to rub them up a bit.

But your item will get there. With current SAPO, who knows. With DHL or FedEx the costs are much higher.

Although some sites ship flat rate FedEx so you could in theory ship 25kg of stuff for $15.

In March AGS are shipping me a Toto Washlet from Thailand. I'll see how that goes.

South Africa is really a dump given a company like Toto has a branch in Kenya and all over Europe, but not even in SA.

Indeed, I get very good rates with fedex for larger parcels. After 25kg prices hardly go up and it is always cheaper than aramex. Nybox ships with, dhl, aramex, fedex or ups, they give you the option

Yeh, will probably only use them sparingly in the future. Don't mind paying a little extra for less hassle.

In comparison - I ordered keys off Amazon last week, also coming via Aramex, it will most likely be here before this Aramex Global Shopper order which has ordered way before.
