For the AGS Basic service, I see its billed R150/lifetime, is this a once off cost or a reoccurring cost?

Are there any discount codes to join AGS

I believe that R150 is a once-off cost.
The paid Flex plan is annual.

There was a free code about 10 years ago, when I joined AGS for free.
 
With regards to weight

AGS used to calculate costs on actual weight versus volumetric weight even though the latter may have been more.

I don’t see that mentioned anywhere now

Any experience with this ?
 
It's still by weight.

I try to avoid using non Amazon/non Ebay courier shipping unless it's from Japan and with only select carriers or from Banggood/Temu. Otherwise it's very expensive. Amazon ships stuff very cheaply. They really squeeze DHL.

For a 24x24x9.5cm box and 0.81kg weight, DHL Express was R510 from Amazon Japan.

I see the calculator but how sure are we that they won’t calculate it with the volumetric weight?

There was a statement on the website once that specifically mentioned actual weight used
 
I have a Code 6 on Aramex, how long does it usually take for this to be resolved? Aramex agent I emailed said 2-3 work days...5 work days ago.
 
Anyone else got an email telling you to update your US address?

But the address is exactly the same as it has been for months. The Florida address.
 
Seems like I struggle to learn my lesson. I've got a package that made its way all the way from the US, into ZA Customs all while getting emails, but it doesnt show up in my portal. I've done it a few times before and this is the only package that isn't showing up in the portal.
It got an Aramex AWB (that I can track via Amex website) but now its time to pay before they will deliver, and I have no way to do that. Support were reassuring initially, but now they literally ignore me on the Live Chat (Shout out to you Bulelwa)

Did you come right? In 2023 when I paid Aramex via paypal the payment went to this address:

I did, once the customs was all sorted out I got sent a random email link that is not the same as anything I've done before, and it seems like everything was processed manually. Still cant see it on the site and still cant obtain a breakdown of the charges, but it was around expected. Delivered this morning. What a long and boring story it is to use AGS sometimes.

Has anyone successfully reached out to Meili or SpeedAF about an incoming parcel? I'm getting a R755 parcel from Aliexpress but they sent me a link to pay R597 for VAT. What a joke.

They regularly overcharge (and occasionally undercharge). They do use last mile courier services, so some of that cost is offset.

But there is no good way to avoid them (or contact them) on AliExpress. SAPO can be better than them occasionally.
