Aramex global shopper

Haven't been keeping up to date with the thread for quite some time. What's the stance on batteries in sealed appliances/gadgets (phones, speakers, etc...) these days? Any issues?
 
JBL Bluetooth speakers are okay, as are the UE Ultimate Ears. Just don't try and order the powerbank combo (JBL Charge 3) as I bet they might refuse it.
I have ordered without problems the following:
JBL Flip 2 (two of them)
JBL Flip 3 (four of them)
UE Roll (two of them)
All have internal lithium batteries.
I used to fix (if necessary) and sell locally. I no longer do so as the local JBL offer good specials now.
 
Thanks, I want to order a shaver from across the pond. If they don't have issues with the JBL's, I'm sure I'll be fine.
 
Got some packages coming in, the first two packages
got here in record time, hopefully receive it by monday.

I have imported so so many things and if customs get their grubby paws on a parcel I always get charged import duties no matter the value.

Even got charged R26.70 Custom duties on a R134 bumper case. That together with the R24.30 VAT and R24 clearance fee brought the R134 bumper case to R134(case) + R75(Customs, vat and clearance) to R209.00 a nice 56% increase on price.

EDIT: I think I understand now, you are confusing the "Gift" and "R400" altogether. Parcels with a declared value of less than R400 aren't automatically classified as gifts. Upon further reading it seems you are now allowed two duty-free gifts a year of which the value may not exceed R1400 per gift. (Item 412.10 updated 03/10/2016)

I bought boots for the wife a few months back. Boots was R260, paid R220 customs. If what you say is true, then I got ripped a new one for free.

EDIT: Also, I'm curious. I bought a fidget spinner from Wish, actually it was free. Paid R20 for shipping. Then I had to pay R22 at the PO for customs. What's up with that?

Hmm, I have been using AGS for years, and at one point in time you could find their Duty-Free threshold on their webpage, and it was R400. So I googled it, and in a reply to a complaint on Hellopeter, AGS said the following:

"....The customs Act in South Africa dictates that under concession clearance, low value items brought into the country under the value of R500 may be exempt from Duties. However the act is very clear that any shipment may be stopped or detained by any customs officials and may determine if any charges payable.

As set out in the Customs and Excise Act, 1964 Act No. 91 of 1964. (A) An officer may stop and detain and examine any goods while under customs control in order to determine whether the provisions of the Act or any other law have been complied with in respect of such goods as contemplated in section 107(2)(a)..."

I also looked on Aramex's webpage and found this:
For imports shipped under International Express (i.e. courier); with declared value below ZAR 500 are treated as duty free
Goods with declared value of more than a ZAR 500 will be treated as normal cargo goods, and will require a formal customs clearance

I usually get emails about these changes. It also show up as notifications on the website.

BUT, I must admit, nothing about Tokyo changing.
 
Nothing about the Tokyo address changing, and I have all their messages from 12 August (in MESSAGES tab on webpage).
You have a justifiable claim against them.
