Are Pentium 4's 64-bit?

I thought they were, but I can't see whether or not the one I have acquired is. I have only really looked in CPU-Z.

AFAIK, it's socket 478, FSB 533, 2.8GHz if that helps any.

From what I have been reading there's not much mention of socket 478 P4s being 64-bit. Are the LGA775s 64-bit?

Check out http://www.cpu-world.com/info/Intel/Intel_Pentium_4.html and try look see what processor you have. If you click on the processor part numbers on the site if dive you details including 32 or 64 bit.

AFAIK the Pentium 4 "D" were the first 64 bit all the rest were good ol' 32ers.

If it says EM64T as an instruction set then it is 64 bit capable.

500 series P4's or earlier are not. 600 series ones are

I have a socket 478 2.8GHz in my server and if memory serves it isn't 64-bit capable.

I don't think there were any on socket 478.

Furthermore, the ones that did do EMT64 didn't do the whole 64-bit thing very well compared to AMD's chips that were out at the time.

Mine must be this, http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Penti...8 GHz - RK80532PE072512 (BX80532PE2800D).html, as I know it has 512k L2 and 533 FSB.

So it's def. not 64.

I'd like to know if there is ANY Pentium 4 socket 478 processor that exists that supports 64-Bit Operating systems. Can anyone help me?

There are no Socket 478 CPUs with 64-bit or XD Bit capabilities.

most p4 are still on ddr ram...whick is damn expensive to get past 4gigs in a system...so the system will be real slow
