I used to be a yaysayer. Anyone who thinks I lie need only go back to my first posts on this forum.
So, while I still remain here, I am now a naysayer.

No one is boiling me slowly!
 
Electricity costing the economy billions, spin offs like increases in prices to cover the loss and as we know this trickles down everywhere and eventually falls on the consumers. Businesses closing causing unemployment, increase in unemployment and crime levels.

Open boarder policy of letting everyone in from neighboring states, thousands flocking from poorer African countries. With an already high unemployment rate this is sheer madness; again crime becomes an issue. Shacks appear and sanitation becomes a problem; rivers are used and dams polluted. One could go on about the spin off affects.

Corruption in government departments. The greatest cesspool being the home affairs; anyone can buy their way into this country. Criminal kingpins have the red carpet laid before them. Prominent high figures with our government both convicted and in the process of criminal charges hold no accountability. Corruption out in the open means very little to them and sends a clear message that those close to the collective's heart have nothing to fear.

BBE, on paper is a beautiful thing to behold; but in practice has seen only the same Elite few entwined in mutual dealings at the expense of the majority; the poor.

The list goes on. The sad reality is; I don't see anything changing. Not in my life time or my daughters.
 
And we will probably see four more interest rate hikes this year, if inflation alone is the deciding factor.
This month is already predicted to be 0.5%
April 18% to a electricity bill will start to filter in by September's figures and March will be affected by this month's losses.

So, 2% more by year end, means I will be reneging on my commitments.
The domestic and gardener will be unemployed by April, I simply cannot afford them anymore.

Oh well, I am sure they will vote ANC in 2009.

Yeah, don't I know that! :D Anyway many of those defending the current situation will be the biggest whiners soon as the crime and corruption will catch up with their protected and screened off lives sooner than they think!
 
How the fark can they impose an increase, they were supplying a country without charge until they came clean. Are we going to foot the bill for additional plants so other countries can get it for free?

Of course it won't!!! That's why I'm not opposed to burning trains, it's that sort of protest that gets noticed whether right or wrong...
 
I noticed something interesting:
even though we have up to 5 outages per day lasting from two and a half to three hours each i still consume the same amount of electricity than before!
I use pre paid electricity so i know how much i am using.

yep.. you geyzer takes alot of energy to get hot from a cold state.
 
I understand that. but if i still use 20 kilowatt in a 24 hour period (same as before)why cut the power at all?
The consumption did not go down.

How many people have changed their minds in regards to immigration/emigration?
Curious as to both directions here - and for the sake of argument, let us group immigration with "returning from abroad".

Spoke to a friend resident in the UK last week - always said he would come back to ZA when he turned 30 - he is here on a visit at the moment, and now he says he will never come back. The difference since his last visit a year ago is, I quote, "noticeable - and not in a good way". Considering that while on holiday the "edges are not as sharp*", that is damning.
