Are we still whiners?

2008 will be remembered as the year where SA was brought back to reality with a big kick in the balls.

Another thing...

This emigration thing is always seen as a white thing.

These days the emigration seminars are also half filled with skilled blacks and indians looking for a better life...free of crime etc.

Good point.

Just look at the medical profession - where do you think all our black, white, coloured and indian medical skills are now - abroad.

2008 will be remembered as the year where SA was brought back to reality with a big kick in the balls.

And then sank rather quickly into another banana republic.

All the infrastructure the ANC inherited has been milked for what it's worth with zero regard for it's maintainence. Rather than be humble as ask for assistance in coming to terms with running a country and all that that entails (it's more than a private jet and a fancy car...) the ANC chose to be pig headed and decide they knew best about everything.

I feel sorry for the people who can't leave, white or black or whatever.. They can do nothing but watch as the country slides back into the murk from which it arose.

By making a noise about leaving and making sure that people elsewhere know the true story and hurting the country financially by discouraging investment and tourism, will be beneficial in the long run as it will be the only way the ANC will ever be thrown from their despotism.

I wonder back when the yes/no referendum was put to the vote, if you had shown a short video about the 'benefits' of ANC rule how many people would have thought twice about that 'yes' vote?

Alas hindsight is 20/20 and that chance of saving South Africa has passed.

South Africa was once a wonderful place to live, and not just pre 94, but also after. It is unfortunate that the majority of voters in this country are more hung up on race when it comes to voting than the actual ability to run a country.

I'm not afraid to say I believe we (the country) would have been in a far better position today if the NP was still around.

Cue 'you racist' comments, but you know what, it's got nothing to do with colour, but everything to do with knowing how to run a country and it's patently obvious that the ANC does not have the will or capability to do so effectively.

Well said schitz011.

The other reason to discourage investment, is "where does the money go?"
If those people abroad who petition their governments to "help the poor South Africans who were victims of Apartheid" knew that the money they sponsored for schools and houses went towards luxury cars, overseas trips and other waste, would they continue to do so?

Ta, been thinking about it a lot recently while I've been sitting twiddling my thumbs in the dark...

Just as the anti apartheid protesters showed the 'hidden' side of SA, it is now up to us to show the ANC for what they really are. Not that the world will come running to the rescue, but at least they (the world) will know the truth behind the gurning (look it up) idiots that we are lumbered with as a 'government'

For those who really can't look it up

Not any more - there are more black and coloured people emigrating now than ever before.

I think might have to give it some serious consideration this year to join them

Ha ha you are laughable in your attempt to convince yourself!

Someone staying and putting their weight behind this country is a meek sheep being led to the slaughter, someone who runs is a brave warrior in your eyes. Ha ha bloody ha.

I notice my question has still not been answered. Does not really surprise me though...

It was answered You just did no notice. Just Typical.

Anyway you harp on the same song and have said your piece! Now leave others to comment as they please!

I am one of those that say "I TOLD YOU SO" and for valid reasons!

What i find unbelievable, is 3 things...

1) that people who voted no, used their common sense, when people who voted yes, didn't have any.
2) all the people who voted yes, have dissapeared.
3) and those who voted no, have to suffer the same fate as those who voted yes.

To an extent, but remember that they were the ones who paved the way for the ANC.

Yeah, with an idea of a Partnership to freedom and pride working together as a nation. All went fairly well until Madiba left! Then the Zombies took over and we now see there is little or no Madiba's left is this country. I think they all scrammed overseas. Now we are stuck with Ex cons and neo criminals!

Maybe it is time for a recount of the Yes/No votes :D

Are you serious ?? Why make Mandela into some sort of saint ?
There was massive problems when he was in charge, and he and his adminstration created problems. The problems just escalated when Mbeki took charge.

Nope! When Mandela was in charge there was hope of reconciliation and progress. The world was willing to invest heavily in South Africa. Now where has all that gone to? Now we sit with a racist crime ridden society going down the drain and everyone fairly content with it as this for them is progress! Even Zim in most of their eyes is progress! When Mbeki came to power we all thought we are in for some progress but we quickly noticed he only have verbal diarrhea and can achieve absolute nothing. HE CANNOT ORGANISE A F@RT IN A WIND LET ALONE RUN THE COUNTRY!

We voted yes to continued negotiations and a phased in change of power with initial power-sharing between the Nats and the ANC.

We were sold down the river.
