I was coming back from a place in Randburg.
I'd been there 4 hours and had 4 single Jameson/water and a shot.
I was pulled over, blew and was over the limit. I bribed him to leave.
Now most forumites fought, moaned and complained about me bribing him - but would you not do the same?
If I was over, it would have so close - and chances are reasonable I'm not (considerin the time). Do I put my foot down, demand he take me to the police station, draw blood and more inconveniences because I may be right / wrong?
I'm happy he acceptd a bribe in my case *shrug*

Um, first, after five drinks, your BA will be quite high. in fact, you are drunk and should not be behind the wheel. Even if you are not feeling drunk, you are.
Second, there is no way you could have been under the limit. 4 hours would not have been enough time for your body to metabolize the booze.
Third. Bribing a police man did not magically make you sober (even if you don't feel drunk, believe me, you are) you could have killed some one or killed yourself.
People who get behind the wheel of a vehicle when drunk are selfish, inconsiderate and potential killers. Next time you want to drink 4 whiskeys and a shooter, let someone else drive you home, and if that can't happen, sleep it off in the car.

How can some of you think of that a whiskey and water over many hours is enough to make you drunk .... ?
I wouldn't post this or argue if I was 100%, definatley over the limit. In that case, everything you say holds true - regardless of how much of a gnat you really are or narrow your thinking and life experience may be.
However in this situation (ie my situation) there's a good chance I wasn't over the limit - leaving me either to fight ir out or pay. I'm both you Sirs would elect to rather fight, argue and face arrest charges, lawyers, court fees and all the great things that comes along with it. Keep in mind this not a fairy tale and police do make things up - and even 'bully' purposely for the reason of getting a bribe.
I am sure a number of other people here have done it as well.
Um, you didn't have 1 you had 5. Studies have shown that impairment begins with the first drink.
Well I believe that the law should take it's course no matter what the consequences. I won't lower myself the same way I wouldn't lower myself to dodge taxes, buy stolen goods and just general corrupt behavior. I can't really say the same for you.
Um, you didn't have 1 you had 5. Studies have shown that impairment begins with the first drink. If you don't know what that means, let me spell it out for you. It means that from the first drink you start acting like a moron, have no inhibitions, no sense of consequence, and are incapable of making any kind of judgment calls. Yeah, get behind the wheel like that, Mr Hero.

In Dolby's defence (and heaven knows, he needs one), at least he is one of the posters here who are honest enough to admit to having bribed a traffic officer.
Doesn't make it OK, but at least he admitted to it.
