Why? Set it at R500 and most of them won't be able to pay anyway. This douche was obviously able to afford a nice, fast, expensive car -- who knows, maybe the fine will force him to sell it and downgrade to a Fiat Uno.
Just about anyone is SA can get their hands on R500. I don't care how poor you are, R500 is nothing, everybody has a friend with R500.

Lucky for him this is not Canada

some people drive 200 and won't pay attention, others will start taking note of what is happening 1km ahead of them. This to me is less dangerous than a drunk at 120km/h, an un-roadworthy car ar 120km/h, a car that has all 'barrel brakes' at 120km/h, a woman busy sorting out her kids at 120km/h, someone trying to put a cd in at 120km/h ... catch the drift ?
It's not quite so simple. We aren't adequately trained to handle cars at that speed as people in countries like Germany are. How would you react if somebody suddenly crosses the road, or there's a car with no working tail lights, or you hit a pothole, or or or? The condition of our roads alone do not allow for excessive speeding, let alone a bunch of other factors that makes driving in this country unique.will always come down to an idiot is still more likely to cause an accident...

When they narrowly missed a mother walking her two children, authorities were notified and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police apprehended the speedsters.
You guys are seriously missing the point here. I am not saying that doing 200 + km/h is not an idiotic and dangerous ect, I am cleverer enough to know that the difference in an accident at 50 or 180k/h is massive.
I agree with you, I would rather be doing 200km/h on the r21 at 2am than be in traffic with taxi's. (r21 cause it's so nice and smooth and well lit, lovely piece of tar)You guys are seriously missing the point here. I am not saying that doing 200 + km/h is not an idiotic and dangerous ect, I am cleverer enough to know that the difference in an accident at 50 or 180k/h is massive.
I am trying to convey that its not these guys speeding at 2 or 3am or on an empty road in the middle of the karoo but rather the unlicenced, unroadworthy vehicles and their irresponsible drivers who cause the massive fatalities on our roads.
Its not me trying to make up 10 minutes on a long distance journey doing 140km/h instead of 120, its the guy in his old bakkie with 5 people on the back over taking on blind corners who is going to kill someone
Its not me sitting in traffic with everyone else who is going to cause and accident its the idiotic metro bus driver who pulls out into on coming traffic who is going to kill someone.
Its those people who have no common sense who are causing fatalities on our roads and not JUST the guys speeding.
And if you can tell me that you have never gone over 120km/h on a public road then quite honestly you have a very limited view on driving. You will also tell me that the only way to avoid an accident is braking as well. I can tell you that you have probably already had one more accident than I have ever had.
Gdiza, you know me bud, would I be pushing this point if I did not know that I could substantiate it?? You should be backing me on this![]()
I'm sure he was still accelerating when they caught him216kph?!?
What a legend.
Well, that killed my boner for you...

The way Ia reason it it if everyone obayed the speed limit the metro/traffic cops would be forced to focus on the other stuff to get their income, to bad the other people don't reason it like that...
but if every one obeyed the law there would be no need for traffic cops, but then they would be unemployed, and would have to turn to a life of crime, but they can't cause every one obeys the law, hence they starve and die..
Thinking like you might be a good thing.. NOT! We don't live in an ideal world...
