Article: Mugabe has no plans to retire

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe said Saturday that he has no intention of retiring, saying doing so would be an act of "cowardice."

"Sometimes the call comes (to retire). It will be wrong, completely wrong when the West is keeping us under sanctions. It would be an act of cowardice, I am not a coward, no matter what the West might say," Mugabe told over 4,000 ZANU-PF supporters as he closed the ruling party's annual conference.
 
Jesus...Is the West STILL imposing sanctions? Why is it that they get the right to punish the innocent people living in Zimbambwe as if it is there fault?(that crap about they voted him doesn't fly)

Why not impose their 'sanctions' directly on him? If you have a problem with Mugabe, go talk to him about it. But they are killing the economy of Zimbambwe and it is the people suffering NOT Mugabe, he is already old and rich, he doesn't care what the price of bread or gas is, he can afford it all but NOT the people.

Fsck to the EU/US and whoever else put these sanctions that only the innocent are feeling...Fsck!

I actually agree with you, sanctions don't work as those in power don't feel it seeing they have access to unlimited resources.
 
As far as I know the sanctions are only on Mugabe and his top officials.
Just Mugabe spins it a bit differently to the people of Zimbabwe.
 
Well if they too stupid to vote him out they deserve to suffer, if hes rigging elections surely there will be a revolution to forcefully remove him, if not .... have your cake and eat it.

They did vote him out several elections back but after rigging the results with the active support and encouragement of South Africa he continues his brutal repression.

I suspect that the real power propping Mugabe up is actually his wife Grace and her boyfriend with military backing so don't expect anything to change when he dies. If anything, they will tighten their grip.

Zuma and company are watching carefully to see what they can learn and apply here.

Well eventually the people will have had enough, they will stand together and remove them from power, we have seen this a few times lately.
