ASUS EEE PC - 7" Laptop

Well I went out and got one :)

She is small for sure. This typing is going to take some getting used to but I have managed to type this message right here quite quickly :)

I really hope you don't regret getting the 2GB. ;)

How do you plan on installing Windows XP?

Well I am a bit of a linux fanboi to be honest. For now, even the silly distro that comes with the thing is working fine for me.

watching a video at the moment. Lots of tabs open. Listened to some music now -the builtin speakers aren't even that bad :)

All in all I might not need XP at all.

Gonna get an SD card at some stage, like a 4GB one. Can isntall XP on the 2GB HD and then put proggies and stuff on the SD card if I decide to go the Xp route.

How you finding the screen res? It was the only main bother for me.... still waiting for a black 8G one :p

I must say it isn't bothering me much. This website displays just fine and the videos I was watching just not were cool as well.

For R2700, I think it is a great piece of kit :)

Good to know... if the 8G takes to long to get here, I'll wait hopefully for the 10" version.

Ya, they could gladly have housed the speakers somewhere else and used the space for a bigger screen but I am pleasantly surprised what all you can fit into 7 inches.

Dammit, I want one of these! Anyone want to by a second hand Macbook?

All of you people asking about installing XP on this thing... Just one question... Why...?

I'm not trying to be anti-Windows/MS here, I'm just wondering why you would need XP on such a small laptop when the Linux flavour it comes with or most other Linux flavours out there (ex. Ubuntu) works great on it.

Not trolling - just genuinely curious... Why?

It's a fair question. I'm taking the advanced mode for a spin now. Seems a bit buggy to me but I am getting there. Certainly better than the basic mode it comes with :)

ATM it seems as if my menu boxes don't quite fit on the screen and cannot be resized which means I can't reach the OK and APPLY buttons at the bottom which is a bit irritating at right now...:p

do a print from Adobe Acrobat on the EeePC :D [Tab Tab Tab Enter] . The dialog is WAY off the bottom of the screen!

I'd use Ubuntu if I was going to use Linux. It just seems a lot more stable than most other distributions.

Win XP seems best though, it sounds a lot more stable than all the Xandros distro the EEE comes with.

hold down ALT, then click on the window (anywhere) and you can drag it up and down.

also benefits if you go change all the font sizes to 8 in stead of 10.

Cool, I will give that a go. Otherwise the Linux it comes with is not too bad I don't reckon.
