ATI 5850 with Intel Q9550

See what i mean...going price for 2ndhand 4890 is r18-2100 depending on make/model, overclock, warranty etc.

Cerebus i would just go for which ever one you like, there is very little difference. Not really a bad choice here.

If you do choose a 4890 just buy it new instead of paying 2k for a second hand one, just buy it new. Even paying a extra 100 new is worth having it new as opposed to second hand. It might also be worth waiting for fermi hahahah ya i know i sound like a broken record but imagine a 5850 for the price of a 4890, could be possible :D.

How come would you pay 2k for a second hand 4890 but not 2k for a new one? Is there is a reason you prefer to pay the same price for second hand? :D

I understand buying second hand if you are saving money but not the same price

Well I can't really get a decent brand 4890 for r1800 new can I? TBH I'll probably find a fantastic deal like I normally do and get that. I got the 260 twin frozr for r1100...

HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E Dual DVI + TV-Out - R 1 789 excl. R 2,039 incl.

Decent brand, hmmm never knew you got crap brands these days. Thought most of the cards are generally reference design or just a different cooler.

I understand buying something second hand if you are saving 400-500 bucks but i am convinced i would pay 2k for a card if i could get it new for 2.2k.

Just overclock that 260 Frozr!? Doubt you'll notice any difference with a 4890..

The 260 is gone gone gone. :D

Hm here's one....a 5770 voltage tweak for r1300. Not bad.

see now you're not so skeptical are you.....

Great the 5770 is mine!

I will enjoy it - it's just a stopgap. Maybe i'll work out a way to double up on it hey... Gives me a bit of extra cash to play around with - PSU maybe? That Quattro's been taunting me all afternoon. I'll definitely be oc'ing this as far as it'll go - Asus honors OC'd models up to the max allowable on the app.

Yea if you are going to add another one then it is more than a stop gap.

Still amazed second hand pricing on 4890's is so high

Look.... you're comparing new price of a force3d model vs 2ndhand price of an oc'd non-reference better branded one. And yes there are better brands and better models - a sapphire toxic will whip a force3d stock. So you'll pay new r2800 for the toxic still, and r2k 2ndhand is quite reasonable.

Yea i agree brand makes no difference anymore. Maybe some brands have better cooling but the cards are essentially the exact same.
