ATI 5850 with Intel Q9550

Don't you need the pro verion to use AA etc. From the screenshot he posted there was no AA enabled.
 
I think you can force AA on but i doubt he has done so, maybe the mobo is not the best for gaming or something.

I doubt ddr 3 makes much difference in 3dmark does it?
 
Ok and benchmarks in real world?

Ok look - first thing is completely uninstall any trace of ati software - then reinstall the latest drivers. See what happens.

did a complete removal of ati software/drivers when before I took my old card out. Then I put the new card in, installed the latest driver
 
I've never heard of a PSU affecting speed. If it can't run it won't run slower, it'll dim or crash.

There are many good PSUs out there, please do have a look at our many PSU reviews as we have loads of recommended PSUs for you to check out in there. What would happen if your PSU can't cope with the load?:

* bad 3D performance
* crashing games
* spontaneous reset or imminent shutdown of the PC
* freezing during gameplay
* PSU overload can cause it to break down

I still agree with you that if the psu was the problem there would major signs like crashing.

Problem is that if I put my card into brawlers PC then Im not going to know if its power OR the cpu/ram combo issue...

PC is running
4x 120mm fan
1x 80mm fan
2x 1TB Western Digital (Black Edition) in 2x powered hard drive quick removal racks
1x DVD Writer
1x 129GB Supertalent SSD
Intel Q9550
8GB DDR400 Corsair
Sapphire HD5850 Toxic

Well you may find though you replace the PSU and have the same problems.

Rather make sure it is the PSU before just thinking it is. That is quite a bit to be running on amps though :D.

Gonna unplug all the fans, HDD's, DVD, the lot!! Just gonna leave the SSD on and run a bench and see what happens...

oh and I cant test in my mates PC tonight, think he has a 300W or something...

Your PSU is modular isnt it? can just swap it with mine. They both Corsairs. As long as I don't need to re cable my case.
