Axxess changing to IS

If ur ip starts with 41.*.*.* then its SAIX.

If it starts with 196.*.*.* then its IS

When i use my local acount it works perfect, but when i use my unshaped acount it doesnt open anything at all, anyone knows where to change the dns on a billion 5210s router when it acts as the gateway for 5 pc at work ? Axxess u suck

smtp.axxess.co.za is a cname for smtp.saix.net

smtp.saix.net will not work if you have a 196.x.x.x IS ip address.

I suppose the next logical question is what is the IS smtp server and will it work?

logged a ticket with support at 10:20, received a ticket response and a sms from them stating that I should change my account username to [email protected].s which I guess is now the SAIX realm.

I wrote quite a lengthy ticket asking for an explanation of this but instead received a one-liner - this is really no good from them.

My username is [email protected] and I'm still on the f$cking IS backbone with bog-slow internet access...

Strange thing that i do not understand is i thought dns servers servers get set automattically on ur router when you authenticate with ur ISP. Why would you have to change the dns settings?

So they add multi-realming support which allows you to access either SAIX or IS depending what you want, but change the default to IS. Okay big deal? Why is everyone crying over spilt milk? Append .s to your username and voila you're back on SAIX -- and if SAIX ever gives issues you've got alternative service via IS.
If anything this is an improvement. Yes they could have informed everyone, but other than that am I missing something?

Only problem is you gotta call them everytime you wanna change it. They have to move the accounts over on their side from SAIX to IS and vice versa.

And trying to call them on a day like today, you either get the engaged tone or it just rings and rings till it cant anymore

If you have an un-appended [email protected] account without a '.s' added at the end of your account and a 196.x.x.x IS ip address, then smtp.isdsl.net should work for you.

It hasn't for me though.

Wonderful technical support Axxess!!

Opened a ticket last night, still no response. Cannot get through to tech. support at all on their ultra cheap 0861 number (charged a 99c/m) Unable to get my account moved back to SAIX because nobody is answering the telephone nor are they bothering with open support tickets. My ticket has been open since approximate 23:00 last night.

At last, a response from Axxess :) I am back on the SAIX backbone, now all I have to do is go and reset everything back to the way it was yesterday before the **** hit the fan.

I guess somebody at Axxess is reading this forum!

Too bad they're too scared to actually reply and offer an explanation

I did refer them to this thread and asked for a public or personal explanation to me; they said they'd post something on MyBB at some point today, so lets wait and see

Yes, I'm very disappointed in this whole episode. Axxess are normally very good at communicating with their customer-base WRT implementing changes and their technical support department is normally sharp and on the ball.

Why was it necessary to open a 2nd support ticket (all in caps) telling them they are in breach of contract to get my problems sorted out? Admittedly, it took around 3 minutes to get a response to that ticket while my original ticket still remains open. No, Axxess, you dropped the ball on this one and I'm not sure I'm ever going to be able to trust you again.
