well its taken this long, but Im afraid all good things seem to have to come to an end...

tonight my line is going not a K faster than 50KB/sec

HTTP, FTP, torrents, etc... they are all as slow as hell

That's not good news. I was really contemplating getting this bad boy.

me too, I was already to sing up at the end of the month. lol

All based on the experience as shared by HTC_guy

honestly I dont know what is going on here...

I called up Axxess and the guy Brad was quite helpful, he even cc'd me on the mail he sent to IS.

Ill give an update as soon as I hear something, but right now its not looking too promising...

/pissed off

still slow...

line is still dog slow and Ive heard nothing from Axxess...

not a great start to the weekend. im not going to jump the gun here, but if this doesnt get sorted out soon I would seriously think again if you are still deciding if you want this service or not

ill keep you updated...

Hi HTC_guy

Can you PM me your username and I will see what I can do.

FIXED

an update as promised..

I'd like to thank Axxess for contacting me right away after I updated my ticket on their website. The issue has since been resolved and Im back to full line speed...

Thanks Axxess, good work! :D

HTY_Guy,

Quick question. Do you get full speed for torrents etc? I've got a 4mb line, but i swear my torrents seem to be throttled at around 40-50k.

I had one running at 40k, so i added another one and they ran at about 20k each?

Any ideas on this?

Alot of providers shape torrent traffic. Setup your torrent manager/downloader app to use Transport Encryption. It might help out a bit.;)

Also check your up/download settings for the app you're using. I had a similar problem with Bittorrent, but I later discovered that I had the settings wrong. Haven't looked back since.

A little more thought into the Torrent download...

The transport encryption will help for shaping, but if your service is unshaped then its a matter of setting your up/down speeds and ratios. Also you need to make sure how many slots you are allowing for incomming/outgoing connections. You might also need a TCP/IP patch to allow for more connections (windows default is low - security issues). What App are you using roddyp?

Hi roddyp

sorry for the late reply, only saw this now...

well it depends on the torrent to be quite honest. at the moment if its a popular torrent then I get around 400 KB/sec. but if its a bad one then I aslo get pretty low speeds.

check your ratios, tcp connections and down/up speed limits. might me something set wrong there... (see above for some good tips! :D)

regarding protocol encryption, I currently have this disabled, and still get full speed. reason mine is currently disabled is I access uTorrent on my PC via the internet (either from work or on my phone), and when its enabled it tends to cause problems. so while it CAN improve speeds depending on your ISP, its made no difference for me.

hope this helps, let me know if you need more help

:)

how do you get it right to see utorrnent from another pc via the internet? I use it at work as well cos we have an uncapped line and to log in via logmein is bandwidth intsive.

How do I go about logging in via the internet?

Have a htc s710 that I would like to log into remotely

please advise me how to do that

well, basically logging in via my phone/any PC with internet is the same process.

you know that uTorrent has a built-in web-based client? its pretty sweet. Its not the full program, but its got everything you need to add/modify/delete torrents.

would you like me to explain the whole thing? :)

yeah I know about the built in web service and can use it on the local lan.

if we had a dynamic IP it would be easy but considering we have a static ip how do I go about setting it up that I can acces it from somewhere else?

Please if you dont mind explaing to me how to do it.

Regards

Eon

I think you got the static/dynamic the wrong way around... :)

actually that was the first hurdle I had to get over. I dont have a fixed (static) IP, so it changing all the time was a bit of a problem. I suppose it doesnt change that much anymore, thank goodness, but still, if there is a power failure or something... chances are it will aqquire a different IP

go to http://www.no-ip.com/downloads.php , register for free and download the np-ip DUC client. its easy to setup, really easy.

basically you just link a domain name to your machine. the client, which needs to be running on the PC running uTorrent, will send the current IP to no-ip.org and bobs your uncle.

So you get URL that will stay the same, and as long as you have the DUC client running, it will sync with no-ip, and send you to the corrent IP.

for example mine is,

http://richardtheunissen.no-ip.org:XXXXX/gui/index.html where XXXXX is my port number. It nice, you dont need to forward additional ports for this, you can use the same port that you are already using... assuming you are using port forwarding.

hope this helps

:D

ok tried doing that and set it up but when I try going to the domain it takes me to the router what is the problem now?

Sorry just I am new to these things and dunno exactly how to do it. thoght it would take me directly to my pc
