Axxess Uncapped Subscribers Feedback

maybe the lack of speed from Axxess is just an early April Fool's Day joke gone awry?
 
Connected 30 min after midnight.
As mentioned I have a 4meg line.

Torrents running at 30KB/s instead of the the 400+ I should be getting.
Speedtest.net was done to Durban, JHB, London and New York.
All were around the 2Mbit mark.
STEAM was run to update a few games. That hit max 200KB/s.
This on the first few hours of the month on a 4Meg account.

So far I'm not pleased.

Just to be sure.
I connected to my Do3 Telkom account that I haven't canceled yet.
Torrents running at over 400KB/s.

Will try place some games during the day and youtube etc.

I was hoping that at half the price of the Express account that I may get half the data, or at least a 3rd of the data.
Looks like I can't do fong kong Maths. Hey I finnished school on the old system. WTF do I know.
If this doesn't improve I have to options.
Go MWeb (if they are much better), or get and Express account and go one month on then one month off.
 
Im having a strange issue, Torrents download, but the rest of the internet is dead. Only on axxess. Telkom account OK. Any ideas?

Looks like it was an issue with my account. Sorted now. Seems the shapping hits in at 6:30
 
Uncapped 384 and 4096 accounts
We have launched our dedicated 384 and 4096 uncapped accounts. This service runs on the same IS backbone as our other uncapped accounts (You'll find under the *Express list). This account is a 24 hour shaped service which means it will be perfect for normal internet activities in an office environment like web browsing and email. This account is not for heavy downloaders, P2P and news downloads and other similiar services will be heavily shaped.
 
I know that this is a shaped service, but to only get about 15kb/s on Rapidshare?? I was trying to get 100mb from rapidshare, which took me the best part of 5 hours. 100mb is not heavy downloading.......
 
I'm not impressed so far, in an effort to test this I decided to download iTunes x64 9.1 (just under 100mb). It appears to me that this account is shaped or limited to a 20k download speed.

I have downloaded the same file using two other Axxess accounts, namely the standard shaped account & the semi shaped (reseller) which granted me full 384 speed.

My question is that being a reseller how could you sell this service to any of your clients knowing they will be subjugated to inferior speeds they may as well continue per gig.

I have sent them a ticket & will wait for the response but so far I'm not in the least bit impressed.

*It would have been a better idea not to launch this product at all (any of the ISPs) if they cannot handle or maintain normal shaped account speeds.

HTTP is heavily shaped, P2P is worse this is not operating as a normal shaped account.

How the heck can I resell this even at cost my name would be supremely soiled...

Was just about to signup for Axxess uncapped then decided to have a look at myBB comments before signing up. Thank heavens!

Axxess has always been a favorite of mine but these speeds are :(
 
Far too heavily shaped - if there is no improvement I shall look elsewhere. I was assured the night speed would remain the same as the 626 - not so! I hope AXXESS improve this service.
 
where can I sell my axxess username/password? is this even allowed by isp (and mybb?)
 
I don't get it though....this is what is advertised.

"The New Uncapped Shaped service is best suited to users that require unlimited but affordable ADSL access - people who don't want to be restrained by monthly downloading caps.

The Uncapped Shaped ADSL account's international bandwidth is supplied via Fibre optic links on the undersea cable and not via Satellite.

To use this account you must have an ADSL line and an ADSL router/modem.

This account will run at your account speed and not your ADSL line speed.
This means that if you have a 4Mb/s line with a 384kbps account, you will only get 384kbps speed! If you want a product that will give you full line speed after hours and weekends please view our Express Accounts. "

It doesn't run at account speed....
 
I can see that since about 8:00am my torrents have been running at 8KB/s.
My Sebring 12Hours American Le Mans race will take over 1 year to downlaod.
Will be quicker for me to walk/swim to the US and copy it from someone and walk/swim back.
WTF that's the speed I had many years ago on 64K ISDN.

Downloading latest nVidia drivers.
Speed is all over the place. 70KB/s to 130KB/s.
What a waste of my 4meg line.
Is there an opetion from Telkom where I can pay 1/4 line rental and have a 1Meg line?

Well I was hoping to get at least a 3rd of the data as the Uncapped Express seeing as I'm paying half the price.
Like paying half the price of a loaf or bread hoping to get a half but only getting a slice.
 
Well , when I left home this morning was getting 65Kb down and 40k up, thats 45kb more than I got on express+ in the day and I can surf/email. Depending on the results for this evening, I'm happy at the mo.
 
Lol I'm now stuck with this account for a month but ag well to bad so sad , already upgraded my account back to the express fiber 512 line, not going to suffer like this for to much longer.
 
I cannot even update my adobe programs & windows efficiently.....this would be a very bad choice for any business that does anything else but email text....and installs malware & virii due to un-updated software.

35hrs for 975mb :(

It's not meant for business :mad: You'd be better off buying a proper business unshaped , uncapped 384k line for a similar price.
 
Rapidshare (free user) dead... less than 0.1kb/s
Email and basic browsing is slower than my previous accounts too. It's a complete waste of a 4Mb line!

I say we take them to the ASA. I'm not even getting full line speed on HTML. downloading from Microsoft's website I'm getting around 20 - 30 kB/s. Websites keep timing out.
I could just as well have taken the 384 package as I'm getting roughly those speeds at the moment. There seems to be no difference between the two packages (384 & 4096)

Yep, also noticed I wasn't getting full speed on HTML max. I noted was 33k. In the low end of the speed market that other 9-12k is pretty frikken important.

Normal downloads/updates shaped down to 20k (I noted a burst to 27k & a drop to 13k on average)

I'm waiting for my ticket response from them though ???

@ Kosmik: I'm basically saying that I was better off working on the normal per gig story.....my point is that aside from emailing there is no point, unless they change their secret policy that is.

It's actually pretty gross cause I feel like not being a part of this whole ADSL story it has put me right off.

When I see a decent & bright enough light I will be off in that direction which will include my current & future business ;)
