Hi all,

I am disgusted by the service I've received and currently receiving from the repairs department of Vodacom Tygervalley.

I have brought in my phone to Vodacom because I have had a software issue with it. My phone could not function without, obviously a firmware upgrade. I've explained diligently to the consultant that I require a software or firmware upgrade on my phone, I even showed her that my phone is not functioning.

It is a SGH-U700, and the side-cover of the phone is covered by warranty by Samsung too. So I asked that they replace the cover as it was chipping off quite badly.

I visited the store 2 days after I booked my phone in with them, they told me that my phone is currently being attended to in Johannesburg, and my phone is there at the moment.

On day 4, I phoned them, asked them how far my phone was as I need it when I go to Johannesburg on the 29th. They said the phone is back in Cape Town, but RAM was currently striking thus having the parts that were on back order delayed. Of course, this is not their problem, but then I asked if they at least done the firmware solong. No they have not. So I suggested that they do the firmware while they wait for the parts from RAM. The person I spoke to agreed. (This means they have sent my phone to JHB and back to CPT for no reason???)

Today, on day 5 - I phoned. To ask again, if they have done the firmware yet. Then the consultant told me that all they need to do is the cover, the job sheet did not state they need to do any software upgrades or firmware!

After being quite frustrated, I insisted that the person I was speaking to requests that they do a firmware upgrade, or rather append it to the job. Because I can't use my phone without it, that was the main reason why I took my phone there the first place. So far, my phone has not been touched and it has been 5 days already.

Why did they not do the firmware upgrade first and then phone me when the parts arrived? This is bad service, that's all. I will not suggest anyone take their phone to Vodacom repairs. I am an easy-going customer, and don't get this upset about service, but this is a business phone, and they did not have any respect for my time. I explained to them several times what my deadline was. (The deadline is past 7 days, their policy says 7 days?).

Not impressed with Vodacom Tygervalley, and the sad thing is, this puts me off from Vodacom, because every branch represents the company.

Thank you.

Can you maybe explain what did not work on your phone that could only be fixed with a firmware upgrade?

How did this specific function work in the past, or did it never work from day 1?

My U700's touch keys just stopped working as soon as I turned on my phone. all of a sudden.

I could type in my pin, but not continue, not even the 'middle-key' worked.

I presumed it was the software, because it worked before.

I am very surpirsied Tygervalley is that dis-organised as Vodacom Green Point has had my handset twice and the first time it was a firmware upgrade and teh handset was ready within hours. The second time (just got it back today actually) was Tuesday. The phone was sent to Joburg and back (even with a public holiday in bwetween) and the entire outside cover of the phone had been replaced as well as a firmware upgrade. (I only asked for the firmware to be upgraded, no replacement of parts)

Tygervalley has a reputation for it, they lost my friend's phone during a send-off to JHB episode too. But they're the closest to me...

Still, Vodacom should ensure all of their branches are representing the company in a positive way! I, the consumer, shouldn't be afraid to which branch I have to take my phone. I expect equal great service where ever I go. Clearly this fantasy doesn't seem to be a reality.

And all I get every time, are excuses. "Losers make excuses"

I'm taking this to the franchise owner, I can't believe it.

Phoned Samsung, they said they have parts, don't know what's up with Vodacare.

Samsung is collecting my phone tomorrow, sending it to JHB and bringing it back within an ETA of 2 weeks.

Vodacare got an attitude, told me they will put it on paper that they don't have stock, and can't get stock or parts from Samsung.

I was ordered by Samsung to just collect my phone from them, Samsung is going to sort it out, and re-initiate my trust in their brand once again.

Samsung has proven service excellence.

service is declining in all areas of business, especially retail.
It's worse than that. Even trying to rectify this problem falls on deaf ears. My conclusion is that if they DON'T KNOW that their service is bad, and won't listen to you telling them, then there is little hope. In the past they knew it was bad and you had a result after a legitimate complaint. Now that's gone too.

Well, I'm trying my luck and hoping I might make a difference. *shrugs*

Suprised they didn't claim your phone was water damaged.

Funny you are saying this- the client next to me, yesterday, said she isn't taking her phone to them again... They said there was water damage.
