Battlefield 3 tips for noobs

On every map, in every game-type, every class has it's role.
Recon always help with spotting/anti-sniping/point defence
Engi with EOD/Anti vehicle
Support with resupplies/mortar
Assault with healing/reviving

When you join a certain gametype, play to the objectives, not your KD ratio.

It's already been said, but is worth mentioning in every post... DON'T revive a guy that's still in the line of fire. Aside from being annoying just being shot again, you place yourself at risk as well.

Don't run in a straight line, especially in large open area's.

Have fun :)

zig zag or
Every couple of steps let go of shift for a step or two the hold it again or
Do both it makes you a hard target to hit

I personally move and claim objectives while sniping. (Ask Killa, we where on a map yesterday where 90% of our squad was in recon kit and all where camping. I was actually with the other 10% claiming objectives in Rush)

What was worse was when half of our assualt class stayed back with the recon guys trying to camp. There were probably about 5 of 16 of us actually trying to go forward (me with my SV98, silenced )

It's not easy being a sniper. ALL enemies will gun for you the moment you're spotted, so spare a little thought to us snipers who are always crapped out and called names only by association of the class and not the player :(

Soo true  I won't lie.... I hang back a little in the beginning of the map to try pick out where the enemies are coming from and to provide a little defence. Thereafter me and my M9 go-a-runnin. Try to provide the best cover I can.

If a flag is about to be taken by armour, and you are not an engineer, dont bother trying to fight. Call for backup, hide and wait. Most times, especially on the bigger maps the armour will drive off as soon as the flag is captured. And then, since you're still alive, you will simply recapture. Bonus points for hiding within range of the flag, meaning the armour has to stay put for a long time (ie he cant be somewhere more useful on the map)

Archer, now now , please don't inslut my friend c4, any support equiped can perfectly destory a tank, evan if it means your own deaths for 2 kills, it's still worth it, ask me I know :)

I prefer my other friend, mortar :p
Didnt really get the hang of C4, so I left it. But now I know - big maps = pre deploy C4 at choke points. Small maps = mortar

We had fun throwing mortar shells on each other last night eh :p

I love mortars, but when you going up against another mortar it's a question of who fires first lol.

I got to a point last night where I would shoot, then running away from my mortar stand lol

When you lock on to those pesky jets and helis DO NOT fire immediately but hold your lock, some pilots blow there load (of flares) as soon as someone has a lock. if your lucky he will deploy flares before you launch leaving him totally exposed.

Also on operation clusterf!ck conquest the team that takes the ticket hall WINS, spam rpgs and explosives like your life depends on but never lose the ticket hall. Spamming the ceiling above the escalators with rpg's and nades is key :p

Tanks can drive backwards just fine.... in tank battles i see many guys charging straight at me once i have gotten the first shot off at them... smart move would be to deploy smoke and drive away backwards before i disable you.

Are you one of those guys who sit in their own spawn spamming mortars ? someone was doing this on seine crossing yesterday, killed me twice and disabled my tank. Snuck to the spawn and did a suicide run with my smaw and blew him and to bits.

Conquest, operation metro. When trying to capture flag b from the enemy, crawl.

So you're the tank killer .. an engineer with an actual clue .. but this particular enemy has spotted your hideout, circling you and popping off random shots to try & flush you out.
The situation is looking dire, it's a game of cat and mouse .. and you can't get your meow on as you're all out of rockets :o

You know your ass is cooked. Or is it?

That trusty blowtorch you carry may have earned you a few repair points, but did you know it can dish out some pretty hectic damage as well?
Works best in the situation described above, or anywhere you can get close enough to the tank without begin pulverised on approach.
They won't know what hit them, I especially like circling the tank to make it seem they're taking damage from all sides.

Just keep your trigger finger on a secondary weapon for when they jump out to investigate or abandon ship like rats. :D

To add to this, if you mange to get close to a tank on its side without being noticed, perhaps a lone driver shelling with zoom, toss a nade over it onto the other side, when it blows driver will turn the turret to that side instinctively while you rocket him from the other side. If you are on foot with at weapons always try to engage tanks from the angle where their gun has to rotate the most to get to you.

that is a very big IF these days. besides it takes so long to get proper lock on some pilots, by the time you could have managed one, they are either to low or too far away.

one thing that ticks me off is, that I gather most pilots switch to 3rd person view when flying and found they have a lock on, because their flare ejecting is way too precise to be coincidence.
that, or they have some1 on the ground letting them know when to flare.

There is a different tone when someone is locking you, has locked you and also has fired, 3 different sounds. Experienced pilots will launch flares only after the missile is on its way.

yeah but the thing is, the actual timing of when it is fired.

I am thinking that is when they then switch to 3rd person to see it, because some of the timings of guys I have had locked onto, was just too damn "perfect".

I get that the AA now at least is a good deterrent, but I still want to at least be able to kill pilots with it.

it just helps my own pilots to at least have a little freedom for the few seconds the enemy air has not spawned.

now they want to maybe add that they can be repaired... WTF!!!

the unlocks, as said, is already making it harder to do and now they want to make it that WHEN you eventually get a hit, which already doesn't kill a jet 1 shot, will be able to fly away and get repaired.

SERIOUSLY???

even if they just reduced the reload time of flares... that would already make a difference. I would get a lock on a jet, wait for it to flare and then they usually do some move to get away from the flares and then I would already get a lock on again, but by time I fire, their flares are also reloaded so then WTF. even if they flared in one direction, but turned the opposite and I fire then, my missiles still seem to go after the flares. (this is firing in the opposite direction of the flares so that they don't go straight at the flares)

Yea, its impossible to get hits on jets when playing as engineer!

its not, i usually run with anti tank weapons on jet maps like caspian but when i take my stingers i still manage to down jets, its more difficult now that better pilots are in the air but still possible. The key imo is timing, i will wait until he flairs, maybe after a friendly jet locks onto him and then fire, when they try to strafe the ground firing at them from the front usually gets me a hit even if they flair.

the key is to bank and flair when the tone changes to launch, if you wait more than about 1-2 seconds after the tone change you are toast so theres no time to watch for the missile in 3rd person
