Funny story. I created this thread but was not contacted for testing. But I am glad something is being done.. Its all about priorities. anyways keep us updated..

That is strange. Have you been in contact with the TM guy as a result of this thread? I was in contact with Telkom during December after complaining on this thread and I logged another call via email this past Sunday evening and specifically mentioned this thread in my mail.

Will keep you posted though.

Can any one confirm that they have been contacted to do tests? My Vodacom airtime is getting low, so no more BF4 until this has been resolved :'(

Had my test tonight. Not sure what they did but I seem to know have a working ping to most rooms and I am able to connect. There is still the odd room here there that has no ping and gives me the port 3659 error but overall it is much better. The Mweb rooms still seem on and off. The one moment I can connect to all of them and the next moment there is nothing.

Thanks Telkom, slowly but surely we are getting there.

Yes it is still a port issue, some ports are unblocked but some are not, reason why you can still only see a few now and then

Yep, I can now see the server pings. But as soon as the server changes maps I get kicked saying I need to open the fecking ports again.

Just glad something is being done about this after all this time.

it feels like X-mas and i am waiting to open my present :p, just hope it is not a lump of coal. I want a good wireless broadband connection lol

i can confirm that i too can see all the pings for all the servers now :p, if i can join them all that is another story, will report back soon.


So i can join all the games, wel all the ones i tried, but i still get kicked after each round. I will try further :p

Hi Telkom,

I have noticed that there is quite a significant amount of SA servers I can't join tonight. These servers show no ping and when I try to connect I get the port 3659 error. Not sure if you require further details.

Two key things that should be noted though:

- Not being able to connect to a room changes constantly. The one minute I have a ping and can connect and the next moment I have no ping and no connection to the server. Seems like it occurs after a round change.

- Some rooms show no ping but I can connect and play

I could join most local servers on the first try, but to rejoin a server after a map change is irritating and never works. What i noticed too was when the map changes but it is the same map just you play on the other side i did not disconnect. It is just when the map change to a different stage. Weird, we should try and find out what changes when the map changes, does the server use a different port? So far i do see progress.....definitely, but to rejoin a server every time is really annoying :'(

Hey guys, I got some feedback from Telkom. Thanks again to them for the assistance provided thus far, I have to say they are going the extra mile here, at least that is my experience for now.

The Telkom rep mentioned that it seems the disconnection occurs due to certain ports that are not open on their network that is used by BF4. Whenever a room switches to one of those ports at the end of a round it disconnects and it will only connect again when the room has switch to a port allowed on the Telkom network. A meeting is being held by Telkom on Monday to evaluate the risk these ports will pose to their network if opened after which a decision will be made on how they will proceed.

Let's hope for the best.

I say just open the port already. It is only 8ta / Telkom Mobile who has it blocked.
Even Vodacom which has most ports blocked where you have to submit an unrestricted APN form to have ports opened, have all the battlefield 4 ports open by default. And all others SP's work fine. Skip the meeting and open the ports! :p

I had to quit after each round because the next round would only kick me, and i noticed if i quit i am able to join that same server again.....if i do not quit the game however there is no ping for the server and i will only be able to join that server if the round ends.

Please can we get some more feedback Telkom :)

This is interesting...

This whole weekend I was able to stay connected if I could get a room that connects first time.
