Hi guys, i recently started playing again using my mweb uncapped account. But i get terrible lag and horrible spikes. Can you guys please recommend an isp that offers good latency for an affordable price?

I have toons on Silvermoon and Lightbringer, in the past i used WA unshaped and had great lag free gaming. Sadly they're packages are still expensive compared to Afrihost, Axxess etc. unshaped.

Cybersmart = Unshaped, the ISP only packages are quite cheap, I have a 4MB line rental + 3 GIG free for R399 per month, which I use for WOW and FPS gaming, then a uncapped package from Afrihost for R248 for everything else.

I have had Afrihost 4 mb uncapped for some time but have had enough. As an example:
BFBC2 patch 2.4 gigs
Afrihost took 25 hours to download it with errors
Telkom took 1.5 hours successfully.
This was on the 2nd of the month so I shaping on my account should not have been in place as I was only on about 1.5 gig when I started.
My problems with Afrihost started around middle of November and have continued into december. Lag in games, facebook hanging etc..Bang for buck, No...

I use Afrihost 4MEG uncapped for playing WOW with, and, with Battleping (about R40 per month) I average a latency in the range of about 230 - 300ms, which is great! They just shape the hell out of torrents, but not always though....

I would go for Web Africa or axxes lite - axxes is slightly cheaper but WA has slightly better performance.
WA to EU 130 to 180ms
WA on local servers 15-80ms stable

Thanks for the replies :)
hereticangel and Sparhawk what isp's are you guys using, and are you using any tunneling services like wtfast? Whats the average latency you guys are getting?
Lots of questions lol, just asking because im getting around 1.3k with mweb and spikes of around 5-8 seconds!

What WA packages are those, the normal or the unshaped?

Good news! I got a trail with Battleping and set it to France 1 zone and my connection to the Lightbringer server is 268ms!!! For R42 per month it works out the cheapest and works like a charm :D Thanks for the input guys :)

I also want to get battleping once i start playing wow again. I have afrihost uncapped 384 though so i was wondering if i should get a different isp. And on 384 will battleping make a big difference? Once i get the game and all il start testing this out because afrihost is pretty good from my experience thus far. Oh and how much cap does wow take after cata release for questing and how much for dungeons/raiding. I would imagine that raids take more cap but i just need to figgure how much cap i need to buy for wow if i do use a different isp for wow.

battleping does help allot sometimes :)

now that cpt users get sat-3 bandwidth from mweb, its all good 220-240ms :) (have even seen 175ms o.0)without a proxy

May sound strange but only good experience ive had in WoW is using telkom ISP i'm getting constantly green latency of 290 sometimes lower, only once in a while it goes over 300

Ive tried all the other unshaped ISP's (Axxess, Afrihost, Imaginet etc.) and always over 300 latency sometimes over 400

Not that strange, since Telkom = Saix [Good] and the other mentioned ISPs are dirty IS accounts.
Just get Web Africa with a VPN for 220ms avg.

I'm assuming by the replies that Uncapped is not a great option, since nobody has really suggested it.
Spent most the day connected with Teamspeak on, and seemed to mange to use about 600MB. Sure i'm not normally on as much, but it still seems pretty steep.

Only suggestion for Uncapped I see here is Afrihost, any other options? (cheaper?)

If you and your guild uses Web Africa you can use their Teamspeak server free, plus their TS server is freezoned - so it doesn't count towards your cap.
