Best online shop?

I been relatively happy with Digital planets service/products. I find their pricing competitive and order turn around times relatively quick.

I don't like their website, slow and cumbersome to navigate and the search feature inevitably spits out a lot of garbage.

However I recently got a sd card for my birthday from a mate but the card was faulty, took it back to Digitalplanet and explained the issue to Tebogo (at reception). Was told I would be contacted when a replacement came in. Was never contacted on account of them not having my contact details so they refunded my mate who now lives in OZ.. Not the result I had hoped for...

I also use take2 and kalahari and am very satisfied with their service... For laptops, Laptop direct are very competitively priced. In fact I am yet to find a laptop cheaper anywhere else... www.laptopdirect.co.za...

Are you refering to our new website being slow? Please could you tell me when that was?

As for our search; we have purchased a new program and working on the results of it - it is very exciting and I'm confident that it will make a HUGE difference:) For interests sake; what were you searching for?

As for the faulty SD card, can you remember who you chatted to. I don't know of a Tebogo. We had a Thuli at reception - could it have been her?

Please could you send me your order number so that I can look into why you were never contacted. Did you email our repairs email address or did you just drop it at reception? I would just like to find out as much details as possible.

Yes although I haven't visited the site in a while, maybe a month or so. Actually I was there recently looking for contact details trying to get closure on the sd card issue. I wasn't browsing the site, only home page and contacts page. I will try it again and post feedback.

Cannot remember the specific item but generally I find when searching for a specific item like sony hxr750 dvd recorder for example the search will return dozens of items but not this specific item.

As for the faulty SD card, can you remember who you chatted to. I don't know of a Tebogo. We had a Thuli at reception - could it have been her?

The receipt I was given stated Tebogo. I will forward all the paperwork to you although I'm satisfied that the issue's been resolved. My mate has confirmed the refund but I'm a present down as a result:( Not serious:p I was in contact with repairs yes, forget who I spoke to, have all the details at home, I'll forward them on to you.. Thanks...
 
Okay just been on the site, digitalplanet and clearly the format has changed... for the better...
 
Yes really ... and once I have a larger customer base, my economies of scale increases, and prices drop ;)
 
My prices are not marked up a lot ... generally between 4 - 10% depending on value, which is not a lot at all. I tried being cheaper then the rest ... but it didn't help at all ... so I've decided I will keep a normal price that is still competative and push the service levels ... and it seems to be working.
 
Lol ... well I do still have my super specials sometimes ... like I think I'm currently the cheapest in SA for the HD48xx and Samsung 2232GW ATM ... and I try organise specials with suppliers. I also think my popularity will boost when I start accepting credit cards.
 
Yeah the more you can offer, the more people will come. Also would be great if you increase your variety of stock. I think it would help if you visit numerous, specialised online stores and see what they're selling and then try to get that specific item(s) in your store as well. The more you have, the better.

Stores that specialise in certain equipment. Eg: www.sacamera.co.za and www.orms.co.za specialises in optical equipment(cameras and video cameras etc...). If you check out those sites, it will give you a better idea of various stock that you can try to get for your site as well. Then perhaps for gaming accessories, you could check out www.zaps.co.za or any other site that specialises in certain equipment.
 
Ok cool ... well I'm going to be doing a lot of specialist camera equipment ... I've just sent an app to Tudor Photographic ... And will shortly be loading Xbox 360 to my site.

BTW, is this your full time occupation? I've always talked about opening some website that "makes" me money automatically :D
I just don't know what kind of service I would offer... I'd so much like to quit my day job and sit back and do jacksh1rt for the rest of my life :D
 
Personally, Etai was my first stop for my online needs :)
He matched a competitors price and was very helpful.
And I've shopped with prophecy,sybartic etc
