Best Uncapped ISP for 1024kbps

So what speeds can one expect during weekdays? especially regarding torrents on the openweb and mweb accounts?

At this stage:
OpenWeb: Standard Uncapped - R359/m
MWeb - R369/m

Axxess offers two concurrent connections so if you share it it's R396/2=R198 each.

It does claim speed is halved when shared but in my experience this didn't happen. But it may be because we weren't heavy downloaders.

These are all the shaped, uncapped accounts (oh, the irony!).

Unshaped, uncapped is out of most of our leagues in terms of budget.

i know these are shaped. thus im asking. can anybody tell me or give an example???

Friend living in Highveld just upgraded he's Mweb account to 1024kbps @ R369 p/m. He is peaking at 90kpbs+ he says

well then i can assume at least full line speeds over weekends and after hours. which is a good thing

I asked my friend to also test some youtube streaming @ 360p and 480p. Seems like he is able to stream without any buffer :-)

Try some youtube vids thats not been cached, trust me there is know way that it would stream without major buffering.

Could be yes. Will ask him to clear cash and reset. Maybe the streaming could show different results. Thanks for pointing that out

With Telkom upgrading all the 512kbps users to 1024kbps at midnight tonight, which ISP would you recommend for an uncapped/shaped package? (ISP + monthly charge)

Damn these 1meg line prices is still too high.for R200 more you can have a 4meg uncapped shaped account.
The only resonable offer in the list is the Openweb Openbrowse option, but what is the actual speeds on http, torrents, streaming and gaming.
if you can get about 80kb on torrents and streaming 720p content without buffering then i would choose that option if i were to downngrade.
when you on 4meg you never wana go back to anything lower then 4meg.

looks like most 384k users are not going to upgrade

It's not R200 more for 4meg. The line rental is more and the isp account is more.

Actually, since Friday I've been streaming 360 with under 10 sec pause to buffer and 480 with about a 30 sec pause (manually pausing before it starts). Streams fast. Even for big files. SO I agree with your friend, tortured. You don't need any "major buffering" for those resolutions on 1024

FYI

Mweb UnCapped 512 kbps R599 All Inclusive (Data+Line)
Mweb UnCapped 512 kbps R299 Data Only + R326 Line R625
Mweb UnCapped 1024 kbps R369 Data Only + R413 Line R782

1mb Line same cost as 4mb+ line
