Best Uncapped ISP for 1024kbps

I agree with Qwikslver. Some of the 4Mb prices are low and at that price you must not expect too much as it will be heavily contended / shaped by the ISPs.
 
It doesn't take 2 seconds to see that 384 uncapped is R219 yet 4meg that is about 11 times faster, isn't 11times more expensive @R2409. Something has got to give.

If you want to blame someone, blame Telkom's high IPC costs.
 
So far I've been automatically upgraded to 1meg on Cybersmart. Well, that is to say, I'm getting higher speeds now, but whether they'll limit me come Monday remains to be seen. Doubt it though, they normally just allow speed increases.
BTW, regarding your table - I've used my friend's 6meg Mweb uncapped several times, and the bandwidth throttling during the week is terrible. Even at 10 at night, very slow torrent speeds.
Really made me appreciate the good quality unshaped I'm getting.

I've always only gotten about 80% of line speed, think it's the distance to exchange. So I'm basically maxxed out for a 1meg connection, at 800 odd Kb/s.

That looks like normal 1 meg speeds, you need to allow for TCP overheads. The general rule is therefore to divide by 10 to allow for overheads - so 1024/10 ~ 102 kB/s.
 
I'm currently paying R295 inc my ADSL line for uncapped unshaped. Ill only jump to 1024kpbs package if i end up paying in the sub R600 mark

Feels like im gonna stay on 348kbps for a long time to come :-)

Agreed a 1024kbps for between R500 and R600 would be great. Incl rental of course.

Im so confused. I want decent torrent speeds, currently on 384k uncapped unshaped. and 1mb seems so great. but what ISP is the cheapest with fast p2p speeds? Im even considering afrihosts 60gig package... as i need 2 concurrent sessions....
 
well w that got the Redafrica special for R199 pay about R743 for a 4meg line + 130GB unshaped
now you tell me if that is more worth it then mweb and openweb uncapped.
its R400 cheaper then mwebs uncapped offer. you can say you actually pay for an extra 4meg line.
ok now, the uncapped parasites download in the region of 300GB-400GB.

imho the redafrica special hits the juicy sweet spot. just wished the telscums freakin analogue rental will just fall away.

Im with WAZZUP Internet. Getting full line speeds and also gaming SC2 with this account. Very happy with it for the last 8 months. But i doubt that you will pay that amount, they increased their prices a while back

Yes- The price is about R600 now.
 
Im with wazzup too. R295 real cheap and im getting full line speed all day long 7 days of the week. ping is maybe like 80ms higher than capped isp's. but i havent gamed in months. gonna start that again soon....

I'm not interested in you capped sweet spots or "semi-uncapped".
 
just making comparisons guys. relax and take it easy.
so who then is the best bang for buck 1meg line.
