Big ADSL data bonus for Telkom Internet users

Its probably a "special" while they wait for ICASA to give approval.

Perhaps Telkom Internet didnt know about 8ta's plans (they are competing against eachother, after all), and so this is in response to that. They need to get permission from ICASA to do anything at all, so I'm guessing they are using this "promotion" to get it out there NOW, while the paper work for the real deal is being processed at ICASA.

Expect the 20gig cap size to stick around.
 
Just a pity their routing seems to be totally worthless now.

I was meaning to cancel my DoBroadband last month, but never got around to it. After this notice I eagerly switched back to Telkom to just waste it all as soon as possible, only to find I cannot load two international pages in succession, gmail is just not allowed and images in some are missing. Switch back to axxess, perfect. So lots of extra traffic just to redo DNS lookups and TCP SYNs all the time. Maybe later this month it will work a bit better.
 
I would only be interested in capped accounts if it costs the same as 10 or 30GB IS local only (R70 & R125 respectively), or of course like WebAfrica's Red Special of 30GB any time +100GB after hours for R200.

Telkom should keep on providing these bundles after the 2 month special, and they should get better ADSL modems, because Billion & Netgear modems totally sux.
I was shocked when I saw that my uncle got a Telkom Duoplus 300 ADSL modem, which doesn't even have WPA2 security.

Really? becuase we have a duoplus 300 and I am pretty sure we are running wpa2
 
Okay, that's awesome, means I can actually update (AND MAYBE EVEN PLAY!!!!) TF2... Except now I don't have international access. ._.
 
Well done Telkom...Keep the surprises coming.This is a small step in the right direction.
 
Telkom increases the caps for a massive 2 months. Not impressed, a small increase of the price to say R600 and the keeping the double cap might do it though.

Till then this is just a short term publicity stunt

If this becomes permanent I will upgrade to 1M as I feel one cannot really make full use of 20Gb at 384k speed. This would be a pure win for Telkom as the speeds are artificially throttled and no new investment is necesary. There must also be plenty of national and international cable capacity around which is just asking to be used and even if not used must be paid for.
 
is there an official statement from telkom about this?
cant find it on their website
 
What's the point if they do not communicate this info to their customers? The point is then it costs them almost nothing because only the MyBroadband members know about it

I did read that Telkom declined to comment by the time of publication, but a few days on and still as of now there has not been an official statement confirming this on their website!
 
so far on 7gb international on my 1gb account..
