BlackBerry problems surface again (11 OCtober 2011)

You really need to work on your forum etiquette.
When you are replying to someone specific it is always best to quote the person.
This way it avoids confusion.

Sure, If I were replying to someone specifically.

they should inform us as to what is the problem. telling us what the problem is wont solve it but it will definitely give us some light. Students rely on this type of free communication due to small budgets and this is taking a toll on our pockets as we have to fork out on airtime to make essential calls but at least we seeing a lot more eyes at campus and we get more attention in a conversation. Parents of teens must also notice that. I hope we get some info soon and maybe a R4 refund huh, vodacom?

You still need BIS to use Opera Mini!
Without BIS/BES a BB can't access the internet
Yes - I tried to access the internet without BIS - no go.
Yes - I owned a BB (don't tell anyone ;-))

As I'm typing this I'm browsing in Opera Mini with my Storm2 just showing 3G without the BB logo. Thus I have internet on my BB without BIS at the moment.

True, but you are still paying for BIS.

Try accessing the net on a BB sim card that does not have BIS/BES configured.
You need the "service books" activated on your sim to allow BB to get to the internet via any APN.

um just need to change you APN... then you can even get a data bundle if you want.
From my experience, does not work.
I tried a new BB with a SIM that had data.
The SIM worked fine on Symbian/Android (internet access)
Put the SIM in a BB, could make calls, sms, basic phone stuff.
No internet access, tried changing APN, etc - just does not work.

Only a kid would consider Watsapp a service... one of our PM's thought it was and then cried when no one got his messages.

BB is a business phone, that's always been the kind of person who gets them.

No one else does push email like BB, don't kid yourself... look at the amount of people who have been affected by the outage, if you are serious about connectivity you have BB.
At the meetings I attend you get laughed at for pulling out something other than a BB, I think that's the main reason for the hate... get over it.

People laugh wen BIS is down for a day... thats like an iBust user laughing when ADSL is down.

I dont knock BB. I do worry about their future as they are losing market share in the developed world.

I get annoyed with the anti-BB club as much as I get annoyed with the BB-fanboys. Same with the iPhone-haters and the Android lovers.

Your comment above that the BB is the only business phone is laughable as are your meeting attendees that laugh at non-BB meeting attendees
The fact is that iPhone have made excellent headway into the US corporate market..

As customers what we want RIM, Android, MS and iOS etc. to all be successful and slug it out such that it moves forward technology.

Slagging off eachother does not help and its juvenile

No you don't. Prior to my BIS/BES activation, I browsed via the std APN.

Web browsing is supposed to work. But anything using Blackberry`s push service doesn't work at the moment.

Back to sms for for me for now. RIM really needs to improve their communication with their users. I am moving to the droid soon, so only VC outages to deal with, and WhatsCrap of course.

23 hours since the last post! That's totally unprofessional.

So I'm a bit perplexed.
I have internet, email came through late but came through but my bbm's go through with a "check" to the message but no delivery.
Wtf???
