Braaibroodjies

Pick whatever you like, I prefer a nice cheddar but won't say no to say gouda or mozzarella.

I usually do cheddar, onion, tomato with a sprinkle of robertsons mixed herbs and ground pepper.

Just don't use processed cheese

Thanks. Sounds tasty.

Such a simple thing to enjoy, so don't come here with all your fancy stuffs:

Kaas + Tamatie + Uie + Knoffel en iets wat brand. Finish en klaar. Nikse se ge-bacon en blue cheese nonsens nie.

Nouprajy. Completely agree. Traditional works best. Proven.

Do you just use two slices of bread?

I know they have those toasty things in packets but they hardly put any filling in them.

Two bread. Onions, tomato, cheese. Salt and pepper. done. profit. winning. alles.

Buttered on the inside, NOT outside. Right ?
Inside. always.

What, buttering on the outside? Prevents sticking and also gives it a nicer colour when heats is applied.
Since when does dry bread stick to a braai? Nee donner, verloor bietjie respek vir jou hier. Butter goes on the inside. You put that schit on the outside, butter melts, bread becomes soggy and start breaking as you turn them. Inside always, always. :(

never had this ...next time will try
you sir, het 'n moerse gat in jou opvoeding.

I've never had them fall apart. Jy braai dit nie lank genoeg nie! :p

I've never had it either. We always buy those packaged braai rolls that you toast or garlic bread. Can't wait to try this.
don't ever, ever again buy those 6 little white squares that they sell as braai broodjies or whatever. Biggest bunch of kark. Sies man!
Ok. Best cheese for this? Or will any type do?
Anything that melts lekker.

People who butter on the inside are n00bs like Samantha over here who don't know any better :p
only got to this now - n00bs my fskken hol! butter inside. putting butter outside is like believing that you need to 'seal' your meat first on the braai.
mozarella and basil and garlic would do well ....some parsley as well

can you use a cream cheese to get a little bit creamy :D ?
nee jirre chill boet. just do the basic one first.

Just saying :D

wtf. so putting the butter on the outside will make it... not dry? I have never had a braai broodjie stick to grid. I had to make braai broodjies before which someone non-approved made. What a disaster. Butter on the outside. Bread is soggy, sticks to the hot grid, and then breaks as you want to turn it.

They only time you will put butter on the outside, is when you are a noob and scared of making biskuit.

A master does not need butter on the outside:D

Nie waar nie. The butter on outside makes the bread crispy, not soggy. My OH is king at this . Yooz doin' it wrong.

Shoo my mouth is literally watering reading this thread. You guys are torturers :p

I've been moved now to experiment away from the same old conventional recipe.

What about a triple decker, using 3 slices of bread with all the other goodies in between and cheese to glue it?
