broken bone

You're obviously a very lucky individual. My mother just found out the heart op she had wasn't necessary and could have been treated with drugs. Pity the doc never bothered to inform her of that option

I am sure that at the time, the doctor saw the surgery as the best option. They don't have the time sometimes to discover all the option available to them. Often doctors go with they are most comfortable with, what they know to work and what they feel will be best IN THE LONG RUN for the patient. You mother is alive I take it? Be happy for that.:)

Also the drugs might have helped for a period of time that the doctor saw was unfeasible, and that the heart op was a sure fire way to solve the problem, permanently. I take it she is fully recovered? I hope so.:)

I'm suffering from internetlessness lately. The leg's getting there. I went for my post-op consult but it was too soon afterwards so didn't go for an x-ray yet.

I can feel my bone slowly grow - that or I've developed rock hard muscles that are immune to atrophy. Still a b1tch to try to bend it anything more than 70 or so degrees.

Oh I see... Well 70 degrees is good, I think, how much is a knee supposed to bend anyway? 150?

Impossible to consciously feel normal bone growth so I would say that the muscles are immune, or they must twitch like a b1tch when you sleeping, thus exercising them and maintaining mass. So when then are you gonna get a follow up xray? when its fully healed?

UPDATE:

I've thrown my crutches away (metaphorically) and the healing is almost complete. I can go for surgery as soon as November - hopefully they'll let me keep the Titanium pin (It is worth R15,000 afterall!). Glad about this as the removal was originally scheduled for March/ April 2010.

No X-rays this time because they didn't do print outs.

What will you do with it though? (titanium pin?)

Dunno, is there a Titanium black market? :p

Would be cool to shape it into something (have a friend that would be able to waterblast it), but AFAIK Ti is too brittle.

everyone needs to see this ...its on topic
skip to 57 seconds for the 'Omg' Part :p

Omg... The replay was so insane! Shot Matt for the huge shock of that clip! I hope I never break anything, I don't handle pain very well :/

Poor guy :(

Oh and tco, glad to hear you're on the mend! Good luck for your surgery next month! Almost there ;)
