Burgundy Estate: ADSL Availability update

Any further news on this?

Anyone have perhaps any luck in getting adsl or some kind of internet set up?

Its basically April now and still no adsl connection in Sierra Views, was told a "plan" was going to happen in March....guess not.

No news my side, went to Telkom Canal Walk in March and they said I should come again in April.
As for the Wireless solution, still sitting with the (hopeless) Body Corporate

Have you moved in yet?

Yup, moved in. Been there since Jan..cant take much more of using 3g data to be honest. They really are hopeless, something really needs to be done about this. Internet is not just a luxury anymore, its a necessity. Was told yesterday the managing agent will only respond to the matter mid April once returning from leave... Its crazy this back and forth, its getting no where.

I just moved to Bordeaux in Burgandy, put in my line transfer on the 1st April and they came out today. Got 20mb adsl up and running. There is fibre running to that checkers shopping centre but only copper running from there to the various complexes.

We looked at quite a few complexes, most of them have infrastructure to the complex but nothing running to the individual flatlets. Telkom said it was low priority to get those wired when we enquired with them. This was about 2 months ago, they said probably not this year, something about there not being enough demand in said complexes and high priority areas taking preference.

I think you hit the nail on the head

An update from my side, I decided to phone Telkom again to try and get some more info, according to the agent I spoke to, there is infrastructure to Sierra Views.
So I logged an installation and got an order number. Perhaps its a good time for all the other Sierra Views people to re-apply as well.
The order is showing my address as 139 Viridian Street, Burgundy Estate, Milnerton. Maybe all the sudden interest in Sierra Views at once will sway them into doing something.

Thats what I was originally told when I went into the telkom store last year before I moved in. Same address 139 Viridian street. Got an order number and everthing...Still nothing. Haven't checked again though. Thanks for the heads up, keep me informed madhatta if you manage to come right. Cheers
 
So I got an installation date, 7th May! Lets hope this actually materializes

I phoned ... and phoned ... and phoned :D
The last person I spoke to said they can see it's in delivery stage but a comment from Networks to say a problem with the Exchange, she said she was going to try and schedule a date from her side and it worked, this was last week.
Got a call today from someone to schedule for next week, was not a technician though.

I'm might be cancelling my adsl this week cause they should be coming to install FTTH. Will keep yall updated as well. Ps, how did you get hold of anyone on option 3 when dialling 10210. I can't get anyone on option 4 either.

FTTH in Burgundy, please do tell more...
A few times I was holding for an 1hr +, other times I dialed 10213

As for the installation, got an sms on yesterday to say a technician will be dispatched on Thursday AM, so it looks like it's going ahead.

Yeah. They coming to install it tomorrow at my place. Only taking 20mbps for now. They did say i can upgrade whenever i want to as well. Im currently running 20mbps adsl2+. So gonna see the difference between the 2. You should have gone with FTTH one time.

That's awesome, what complex you in and how did you find out there was availability to your complex?
Honestly didn't think there was availability in Burgundy, only see Plattekloof on the maps

Not in a complex. In one of the houses close to Bunker Bar. Yeah I didn't know either. I filled in a form like 2 months ago Telkom website. Forgot about it even. They called me last week to install Tuesday this week. I couldn't do that so had to make it for Thursday this week. Otherwise it would have been in and I would be pimping.

Wait? Telkom confirmed they have FTTH ready in Burgundy Estate?
 
My line is finally in !!
So all you other Sierra Views residents, pick up that phone and make the call :D

I got 4Mbps but according to my router, can go up to 26Mpbs.
Unfortunately cannot upgrade until Telkom close my original order, then I'll be going to 20Mbps

Congrats! Glad to see you can get 20mbps. I'm close to the new storage place and can only get 10mbps with ok-ish stats.
