Buying a UPS

Just what I thought.

Mains is off and earth leakage on for my lights to go on.

I switch the mains on ONLY when I unplug the ups plug from the power socket.

You obviously live alone. You can control that. Fine.

Never ever not be home and let things go wrong.....you WILL burn everything down. Maybe a Maid that tries stuff when you are not there. Dangerous territory you are in.

That's all.

Nah, have a family.

Nobody can give me a good enough reason not to use it

Because you are playing with fire. Remember, you have to be there to manually BE THERE to do the whole switch this off and unplug this and turn that sequence.

Your Family will not get it right if you are not there. You are absolutely looking for crap. Seriously.

Mate I understand your concern, but I am the only one who does this. My wife will never touch any electrical stuff unless I explain to her what to do or just leave anything if she is not to sure about anything.

First thing I do is switch off mains, geyser and stove. I then physically unplug the fridge, freezer, microwave and stove. I then plug in the ups and start up everything

I use a similar system that ONLY I know what is potting. I live alone here and have tried to explain to people working here how all works. Many times. They just don't get it. At this stage just testing batteries and charging and durability and all..

Freaking hazard of note. I know and appreciate the risks.

Nobody but NOBODY is allowed near my stuff if ESKOM goes into shedding. For their own safety.

Please heed the caution I am trying to get into you.

You never ever want to sit one day and confess that some random dude told you and warned you about this.

And I am over this thread. Play at your own peril.

Well one reason if an earth fault happens earth leakage wont trip

Don't give advice if you know jack about it

It seems you don't grasp the situation here.

The guys are telling you what you're doing is dangerous, but yet you turn a blind eye.

Things might seem perfect for the first few rounds, but boom, when least expect it, the sh*t will hit the fan.

Peace,out!
