Hi guys,
I am in the market for a HD4870 512/1GB and the best local price I have found is R 2 800 form wantitall.co.za
But I can get one off eBay, NEW, for only R1555 inc express mail to SA!
They guy has 100% seller rating so cant be a scam :)

Are you guys against buying from other countries?
Thanks

Tough call, personally I would be wary, but really not sure. Kinda sounds to good to be true if you ask me.

Are you saying that the the guy could be fake?
Becasuse if you have ever used eBay you would know that people get a rating from others whom buy from them... he has 2000+ reviews and all 100% good!!
Plus it is a actual shop with a website n all!

It should be fine buying off ebay. If the seller has a 100% rating with over 2000 sales, then I really highly doubt they're a scammer.

I've bought numerous items off ebay (Australian and American) and I've had no problems as of yet.

I don't know i generally don't trust online sellers and is the guy going to give you a warranty on the card? Cos you don't want to buy it and them 2 months later it dies on you and can't get it replaced.I would rather spend the extra money and be safe

What I am saying is that it just sounds to good to be true straight off the bat....

If he is selling stuff for so cheap then why the hell are any of us paying SA prices when we can get it almost half price?? Doesnt make sense. But hell if its legit then forget about buying anything in SA again, I will buy straight from him. ;)

same here; we all know we are paying inflated prices here in RSA for about everything.

i'm curious as to how many items the nay sayers actually have bought of ebay.

you get slapped with import tax thats worked out on the item's price excluding the shipping.

Because of the hassle with warranties and having to ship the item back to the overseas guy/company. Some of us just don't want to go through the effort. But if you are willing to take the risk and your hardware doesn't break you can save loads by importing.

A) I will take the $1.75 insurance on shipping.
B) It is almost 99.999% impossible he is a scammer because of his rep (100%,2000+ orders).
C) It is not just him who has this great price. Just go on ebay and search 4870. You will find lots of good prices :)
D)I am gonna order it today and will report what happens! I mean it is half price to here and there are like 10 available. Maybe I will buy ALL if this works and then sell them here for slight profit :) So no one gotta worry about shipping etc.

Ok, this is great and all. But why you going for the 4870 and not the GTX260?

How much is import duty and how does that get paid??

the GTX260 is $230 and HD4870 is $175!
TAX is like 20% and you pay at post office
