Bye Bye Afrihost!

After getting absolutely pathetic speeds on my so called 4Meg Uncapped Afrihost line I've just swapped over to Mweb, I've only been connected for a few minutes so it's really to early to tell but the speed difference is chalk and cheese!!!!

Since Afrihost has a clever little clause that avoids me canceling my account less than 5 days before the end of the month I'll be on both for this month so it will be interesting to swap between the two... (expensive but heck the patience went out of the window when standard HTTP protocol started crawling slower than an 80 year old drunk!)

Yes, it will be interesting to compare. I have certainly noticed an overall speed decrease in my Afrihost account and I use capped bandwidth as well. I have discontinued my SAINET 4Mbit uncapped account and moved to the Titan Webafrica account to replace it. As I use a load balancer across various accounts/ISP's, I have noticed in the past 2 weeks it often favours the WA account... certainly superior bandwidth comes at a slightly higher cost these days. If Afrihost does not straighten things out in a month or two, Mweb will also be my next choice.

No ... heck if I got unshaped I would expect unshaped!! I totally understand the logistics and why they need to shape but still Afrihost was a joke... I had downloaded 60 gb so I can only assume that the bottlenecks after each "milestone" had kicked in... lets see what happens with Mweb.
