Cape Town: David Forbes murder case

From a seated position? I seriously doubt that because he wouldn't have had much leverage in that position; not from the arm nearest to the door and certainly not from the other arm closer to the centre console.

But, it must be so because you want it to be so.

You just offered this theory, so YOU tell me where the second gun was because, to date, no gun, or knife for that matter, was found in the deceased's car.

Maybe he had it all figured out? Maybe he inflicted himself with that wound (thought I'd throw in my own ridiculous theory). Maybe he stuck around so that he could tell the court later that he was co-operative? (He did this in his bail hearing btw). Or maybe he is just a cold-blooded killer, who have done this before but maybe not in public, but staged this in such a way that that the victim might seem like the perpetrator or aggressor.

Heaven knows.

Exactly. No report has stated that the victim was unarmed. Which could be an indication that he was armed. We don't know anything, yet you seem to know that a 4cm cut does not warrant 4 bullets.

Could be that the dude in the golf was selling fake tickets and he was confronted in the car, pulled a knife,

got to wonder about a person willingly committing fraud by selling fake tickets (if that is really true) who carries a knife around with him.

anyone here carry a knife around ?

Lets see.. the victim was seated in his own car...
Approached by the accused... confronted...
If the tables were turned then the victim certainly would have had a case for self-defense or that he felt his life was in danger and defended himself.
Not the other way round, I'm afraid.

The accused instigated the confrontation, so was very aware of where it could and more than likely would go...
The accused had the physical advantage of being in an oppressive stance standing over the victim, who had nowhere to run.

If a huge guy like that approached me while I was seated, and displayed aggression, I too would look for a weapon to defend myself.

Did you just have a logic fail? Since when does a lack of something imply or indicate that that something was present?

The 4cm cut was indicated in the bail hearing.

In explanation to why Forbes was being held at Cape Town cells, McKennan said detectives needed to take photographs of a wound on his arm and his blood needed to be taken.

“His blood must be sent to a district surgeon.”

When Oaks enquired about the wound – a cut above Forbes’s wrist – he quickly rolled up his sleeve exposing his tattooed arm, before she said: “Looks like a cut about 4cm.” The State agreed.

So the only wound that we know of right now, is that 4cm cut. So you warrant that that is worth four bullets?

Don't bring mitigating circumstances into the murder case... it does not justify murder.. it is separate and need not be mentioned unless to shed light on the victims character.
As for the knife in car,. I know of law abiding decent family guys who carry much worse weapons in their cars... This is SA after all

Don't you think the press would have jumped on that bit of info, if he was unarmed? Maybe the victim's own gun was turned on him, in an altercation. So many possible scenarios. To me a cold blooded killing in public sounds the least likely...

I don't even know that there was 4 bullets... Do you?

I think that the general feeling here is to demonize the victim in order to justify the act of the accused.

Its a trend on this forum , sadly.
They pick a side then look for excuses or justification....

You asked a question, I answered it. If you stab someone in the leg and sever the main artery you can bleed out pretty fast and die, it's happened before.

Why the hell would I want it to be so? I have no interest in these characters lives, I don't know what happened here or how everything played out.

The fact of the matter is you can die from a knife wound and you don't need to launch from a running attact to plunge a knife into someone, a single quick short jab is enough to kill a person.

I carry a knife with me every day. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make?

I prefer to be armed if confronted. I may not use it but I like having the option.

So you hear a report on EWN but rather want confirmation from this forum because you don't believe EWN?

Now pull the other one..

Uhm no, I wasn't sure if the report said the victim was out on bail or the shooter.

Didn't get any or this morning or are you just generally rude ?

I'm not being rude... apologies if it comes across that way...
Perhaps I'm a little irritated by way some people defend killers, who they cant find fault with...
but swap the victim with a dog.. and watch the onslaught the accused would have received.

Don't you think that the press would've jumped on that bit of info if he was armed? They usually don't miss such things. Two days on and no knife and no gun.

Four shots, clearly heard by all the witnesses present. Or maybe the other two were crackers, or a car backfiring ;)

Judging from your arguments, you have clearly not read any of the follow-up articles to this incident, because that's what I did to try an piece this together.

I've got no arguments at all. Just giving scenarios. You seem to think the victim was squeaky clean... Reporting on this case has been very bad, to say the least.

I think that the general feeling here is to demonize the victim in order to justify the act of the accused.

It makes the event more palatable. I'd rather not form an opinion based on speculation but I must admit that the few facts available don't paint a sympathetic image of the victim. I hope that changes for the sake of his family.

For now: more facts will form my opinion
