I see there is a Starting Grid Combo at Autostyle for R1k.
  • Rave 1500w SVC Subwoofer
  • Targa 2000w 4ch Amplifier
  • Audioblast 500w 6X9 4way Speaker
  • Evo 300w Tweeter
  • Box 12" Single Normal
The Targa amp alone goes for R900. I had a Targa amp before and it was good. Not sure about Rave (sub) and Audioblast (6x9 speakers).

What do you think?

I have a Targa amp(purple) lying around from my days as a silly student. I have no idea if its 1000w 1200w 14000w or 2000w or what ever but if you're in the WC you can have it for whatever you wanna give me. Its just lying in the drawer and its been lying there for years.

Would need to see specific specs but on face value it's a bargain

Good deal. What's their installation cost? If they install and throw in a 4 gauge cabling kit for an extra R400 then it will be even better ;)

Good deal. I had a Targa mono block before I got the RF punch 40 from a friend. It worked great, although it all including the kicker sub gathering dust in the garage.
Think I outgrew the BIG sound.

Great Deal. I have a Targa 3 000w monoblock driving 2 x 1 400 watt Pioneer DVC subs.

It moers!

typical...... family car with sound :p

OP ...not far from them is sakyno and theres electronic world in fordsburg

have a look at prices from them 1st and then decide

maybe you can pick up better stuff cause i have no idea what brand rave is

Don't bother with the 6x9's, rather get a decent split system.

Just came back from them. They gave me a 1200W Targa sub. The Rave was out of stock.

As for 6X9 vs split system, it's too late now.:)

As long as it hasn't been used, I'm sure you can take it back and exchange it, seeing that you just bought it today.

you havent fitted it yet?
sell the 6x9 to some one and buy the splits
Not fitted it yet. I'll see. I'll probably get less than R200 for them since they are worth R250.

I don't have enough money. I would have gone for well known brands.

Cool if you want to impress your friends with how loud your car goes. Shyte if you actually want to listen to music...

When I was still into car audio, I had this in my POLO:
6.5" Splits in the front doors / pillars
6.5" Coaxials in the rear doors
2 X 10" Subs in a sealed box
All run off a single class A/B 400w amp. (50Wx4@4Ohm, 100Wx4@2OHM, 200W bridge @ 2OHM)
Splits and Coaxials ran of the front channels. Subs of the bridge.

6X9's are shyte because they screw up imagining. Do you ever go to a concert and and stand with your back to the stage?

To get started... Get a 4 Channel A/B, a pair of splits for the front and a sub. From there you can build as you get cash.

Remember that wiring is just as important. Dont go over spend on wire, but dont skim on it either. Usual rule of thumb is 10% of the value of your system.

Brands. I prefer Rockford / Lightning Audio / Phoenix etc. They are costly though. Second hand?

Targa, ICE, Calibra etc - Well, you get what you pay for....

I could have easily spent R1700 on those items had I bought them separately.

Ahh to be young and broke again as aposed to old anf broke :D

fit the 6x9's for now, save up and get the splits later, and then you can say i was right :)

Some problems with the 6x9's are that the sub will work against them in the boot.
You can solve this by isolating them ie put them in a box of their own.

They tend to be louder than you need in the back.
Fitting some nice splits in the front later and then just using the 6x9's for rear fill will help with getting the sound stage better.

If you just want to make allot of noise then the current stuff will be fine.
